    D&D (2024) Ranger 2024 is a bigger joke than Ranger 2014:

I mean sure, but you get what I'm saying. (Obviously a Druid with Bless, say a Fey Touched Druid if you like, they could at least cast Bless and keep it up with the benefit of Wild Shape HP/CON.)

    D&D (2024) Ranger 2024 is a bigger joke than Ranger 2014:

It still bugs the hell out of me that (seemingly), the Ranger subclasses still only get one extra spell per spell level. Genuinely don't get the logic with that, when Paladin has always gotten two. For that matter, do Hunter and Beastmaster get spells at all this time round?

    D&D (2024) Ranger 2024 is a bigger joke than Ranger 2014:

I think concentration on class features in general is just a bad idea. You wouldn't want it on Wild Shape, you wouldn't want it on Rage, you wouldn't want it on a Paladin's aura, and on down the list. It can even be a bitter pill to swallow for subclass features, like Invoke Duplicity. It's just...

    D&D (2024) 2024 Player's Handbook reveal: "New Ranger"

Don't hate that necessarily. In principle anyway. It has irked me in the past that, there's no vanilla mechanism for non-Monks and non-Unarmed Fighting style users to deal more than 1+STR on unarmed attacks. Like they might be a tank in their own right, but it doesn't matter beyond their STR...

    D&D (2024) 2024 Player's Handbook reveal: "New Ranger"

Yeah that's not a bad shout. Though I guess, what else would it even apply to besides Extra Attacks? I'm sure there is something but, can't think off the top of my head.

    D&D (2024) 2024 Player's Handbook reveal: "New Ranger"

You were literally responding to me about what someone else said! They said one extra spell prepared. Which, again, is what Favoured Enemy does already. Yes, "a small pool", meaning the Ranger spell pool. They specified the Ranger spell pool.

    D&D (2024) 2024 Player's Handbook reveal: "New Ranger"

Incorrect on two counts there; Not me, someone else. No, they didn't. Not spells. Spell. Literally exactly the same as the current Favoured Enemy feature, but you can at least choose which spell it is. Look, I even quoted it for you so you don't have to go back pages! And I went ahead and...

    D&D (2024) 2024 Player's Handbook reveal: "New Ranger"

Might suggest re-reading what they said, personally.

    D&D (2024) 2024 Player's Handbook reveal: "New Ranger"

Ask WOTC, they inflicted this reality upon us. Literally all they're suggesting is the ability to choose the spell from a small pool and nothing else.

    D&D (2024) 2024 Player's Handbook reveal: "New Ranger"

Sure, why not? No, I don't think a D6 of damage is so fantastically amazing to come at the expense of every other concentration spell.

    D&D (2024) 2024 Player's Handbook reveal: "New Ranger"

That's what I homebrewed it to do! You cast it, sometime after (on your turn) you can activate it, you get the movement buff (including opportunity attack negation) + the advantage attack, and the extra damage is applied next time you hit. Means it works for closing the distance, but also...

    D&D (2024) 2024 Player's Handbook reveal: "New Ranger"

Like I say I can't speak for anyone else, but. I took their post to mean "Favoured Enemy and it's trappings is worth less to me than another ASI", rather than "I want the game's levelling mechanics to accommodate swapping out a core class feature for another ASI". Maybe they do want that, I'm...

    D&D (2024) 2024 Player's Handbook reveal: "New Ranger"

Funny, I'm not familiar with the "CIRCLE OF THE MOON SPELLS Druid", I only know the Druid. Is that a new class they added in 2024, perhaps? Oh I see, I asked for classes with a concentration spell on their levelling table, because we're talking about the Ranger, that class that has a...

    D&D (2024) 2024 Player's Handbook reveal: "New Ranger"

Show me another class with a concentration spell on their levelling table.

    D&D (2024) 2024 Player's Handbook reveal: "New Ranger"

In this edition; Favoured Enemy, which is Hunter's Mark. I dunno, I can't speak for everybody!

    D&D (2024) 2024 Player's Handbook reveal: "New Ranger"

You don't seem to be advocating for removing Favoured Enemy, even though you think the Ranger is perfectly fine without it?

    D&D (2024) 2024 Player's Handbook reveal: "New Ranger"

I am making the safe assumption that the Ranger spell list will have concentration spells you may want to cast on occasion. If not Zephyr Strike, something else. If not at level 1, then one further up the table.

    D&D (2024) 2024 Player's Handbook reveal: "New Ranger"

And thank god there's only one level in this game, or I might be forced to not care! The same resource being, your concentration. We were talking about Hunter's Mark, which uses your concentration, and spells, which also use your concentration. That being said; Again, your buffer starts at 2...

    D&D (2024) 2024 Player's Handbook reveal: "New Ranger"

This is a very odd projection. Literally all they're advocating for in this instance, is something instead of what's meant to be the Ranger's go-to mechanic. An equal exchange. If you think it's good, then maybe you'd concede it's worth something to give up?

    D&D (2024) 2024 Player's Handbook reveal: "New Ranger"

Sure? The difference being, features like Rage and Wild Shape remain much better than this one. No, fine, but you are encouraged to use Hunter's Mark over those other options when they pull for the same resource. Especially when/if you reach those features that are meant to encourage further...
