    Flaming whip

No, it isn't. It's extra damage dealt by the Flaming ability of the weapon. No where does it say that the weapon itself has to do damage. The only caveat mentioned is "on a successful hit." An Artificer could add the Flaming ability to a Monk/Wizard, and the monk could just make a touch attack...

    Flaming whip

Sorry for jumping into this late in the game, but I have a related question. Hopefully it hasn't been asked already. Does a Flaming, Brilliant Energy weapon deal fire damage to undead, constructs or objects? Or to put it another way, does the Flaming quality a part of the Brilliant Energy or is...

If Dimension Door / Teleport is prevented....

For Dimension Door, I'd follow the "If you arrive in a place that is already occupied by a solid body" rules. For Teleport, I'd follow the "False Destination" rules. I don't think the RAW actually specify this, so it's up to you as the DM.

    Build me a mulcher/tank

If you can talk your DM into allowing the Goliath from Races of Stone, it might be a nice option. LA +0. Their big claim to fame is that they're medium sized, but considered large if it is to their benefit. That means you can wield large weapons, are considered large when you grapple...

    Your thoughts on warlocks

Really? A flying Warlock?! I've played a paladin and they don't get ANY ranged abilities.

Warlock - Frightening or Sickening Blast?

Why not take Earthen Grasp? No save (though there is the grapple attempt). Sprouting one arm a round ain't too bad.

Short & Sweet - Discard hit die rolls less than con modifier.

My DM came up with a rule we all liked. DM and player each roll their own hit die for the player. Player can choose to keep their roll or use the DM's if they rolled poorly. It's possible to get a lower score (e.g., rolled a 2, DM rolled a 1) but that happened infrequently.

    Sans clerics, no arcane healing?

There is divine magic in that there are druids and their spells are divine. However, there are no gods, so no clerics, paladins, or favored souls. Thanks for the info on Shamans. Spirits still exist so that class would fit my setting. Thanks for the feedback. I feel much safer about giving...

    Sans clerics, no arcane healing?

Imagine a world without clerics. Imagine arcane casters have figured out how to cast cure, heal, and resurection type spells. Is there a balance issue here? I've tried to look at different arcane spells and then try to think how casting a healing spell on yourself would make it overpowering...
