Pretty much; the clock on my laptop had ticked over to 6.01 when the post finally took. One of those work days where random meetings kept popping up.

Don't love your villains (or "How I screwed up, and how I fixed it")

I had a similar situation where the PCs had won a hard fought and gruelling victory, and were resting. The camp where they rested had a trio of Jinn performers who would regularly use magic to make others do funny things, albeit at their own expense; in this case they made the noble and uptight...

Does a single source of menace cheapen the game?

Interestingly, i have recently been perusing Ptolus and have incorporated some of the overall themes and ideas into my campaign, especially some of the concepts around some of the power groups. Where in think the complexity comes in is in ensuring that the other parallell plots and events are...

Does a single source of menace cheapen the game?

interesting point. Though i am not sure how well novels translate into gaming and how apt the comparison is. Take, for example, the dragonlance modules...:-S

Does a single source of menace cheapen the game?

My opinion is similar as well. I think it is more player driven really; it is easier for players to deal with the former than the latter, though the latter has more potential as far as actions and flexibility. I've known players who thrive in the latter, and others who get overwhelmed with choices.

Does a single source of menace cheapen the game?

I've recently been thinking about the concept of the "Big Bad Evil" in gaming. It is, obviously, critical to have engaging adversaries for the PCs. However, does the concept of a singular "evil" make the game less remarkable (all other things being equal of course). It is important to have a...

IRON DM 2011--Rules, Entries, Judgements, & Commentary

I think 24 hours might make it more interesting, and would also consider increasing entry length by 200-300 words.

IRON DM 2011--Rules, Entries, Judgements, & Commentary

Thanks all! Thanks Judges, for doing an underappreciated task; your criticisms and analysis show that you are awesome and it was interesting to note the very different POV [RG on one end, Wicht the other, and Rune somewhere in the middle]. Pour, you are incredibly creative, and a evocative...

D&D 5E cancelled 5e announcement at Gencon??? Anyone know anything about this?

I love how there are lots of "statements of fact" of what others said and intended, when the actual statements from those people are the exact opposite. Carry on with Edition Warring. I think it might make sense to create a thread with "Team A" and "Team B" with the usual suspects filling out...

Iron DM 2011--All slots filled--LET'S PLAY!

Interesting judgement. Next time i will forgoe ingredients for a better adventure; i.e, its much easier to design an adventure around three ingredients than five.

IRON DM 2011--Rules, Entries, Judgements, & Commentary

Ingredients: Devilish Smile- Orion’s smile; indicator of silent spell casting and his devilish nature. Illuminated History- the tiles each illuminate history of the fall of Elsinor; the PC interactions with each of these pieces are critical. Misplaced Vendetta- The Elf/Orc vendetta; caused by...
