Does this mean that you are done GMing in the short term once this campaign is done?

    Sentinent Items

Right. I am talking from a GMs perspective, and this is a thought excercise about the possibilities of magical items, not just limited to weapons, having the ability to feel; for example- an item could function through taste, or smell, or touch, or even sight or a combination of the above...I...

    Sentinent Items

I was thinking about this today. Usually, In RPGs sentinent items might speak, have personalities, but do they actually feel? For example does a sword feel it when you cut through someone's neck? Can it taste the blood? Does it feel pain if it is sundered? These are wonderful considerations...

Iron DM 2011--All slots filled--LET'S PLAY!

If you can post the ingredients later on Sunday, it might be best for me. My schedule for the next few days/weekend is filled with a bunch of different projects (at home and work).

    Maps/Tiles or Dry/Wet Erase?

Yep. Tje clings are great, not too fond of their walls but everything else is excellent.

    Maps/Tiles or Dry/Wet Erase?

I've found tiles like the ones put forth by Paizo and WOTC to be impractical to use unless you set up a scenario beforehand. An old friend stole my Tact-tiles. I currently use the Magna-Map Combat Grid and it's awesome. It's heavier, almost metallic, stays flat, plus you can get any...

    Mearls: Augmenting the core

Whatever said, designing adventure modules for such a system would be a pain in the butt.

    Mearls: Augmenting the core

Does this necessitate additional purchases and rules mastery? Would current characters be compatable with the new add ons? I am sure these are all questions considered and addressed by the designers.

    Mearls: Augmenting the core

I agree. I am thinking more of what happens when a campaign evolves? For example, the basic premise of my current campaign was about exploring a lost continent, however, due to player proclivities that campaign has also evolved into a very political setting- it's an aspect chosen to explore by...

    Mearls: Augmenting the core

I think implementing something of this level of modularity and complexity requires a DM, and possibly the players to use electronic tools, which would probably be the primary delivery system to begin with. I am not sure books would work for such a medium.

    Mearls: Augmenting the core

Isn't that the same? Doesn't saying i am using the "politics and peasants" add on automatically imply the type of game you are running?

    Mearls: Augmenting the core

It's an interesting take on things, especially discussing it from an R&D point of view. Essentially, MM's discources comes down to the next edition of D&D being all things to all gamers via modular add ons. It's a high threshold with the downside being that it becomes the bard of AD&D. Something...

IRON DM 2011--Rules, Entries, Judgements, & Commentary

Thanks Judges. I agree with your criticism; i do think that what i had plotted out was too ambitious for the format. The word limit really crimps in what you can and cannot include in write ups (i.e, i think 2500-3000 words might be the more effective range). The whole plague plotline, upon...
