    why no gnomes?

I woulda guessed simply that Gnomes (like half-elves) just aren't that popular compared to the standard elves or dwarves.

    WotC stores: dead?

All the stores are being closed, probably regardless of whether individual stores were making money or not. The one in the Westminster mall seemed to do pretty well businesswise.

    WotC stores: dead?

The WotC store in my local mall wasn't too bad compared to some of the horror stories I hearing from other people. At one time they even had the entire RPG collection prominently displayed in the front of the checkout center! But then again I could find a larger and better selection at some of...

    WotC stores: dead?

On the gamingreport website, someone is saying that WotC will close all their Wizards of the Coast stores as well as The Game Keeper stores as well. Here's the link: http://www.gamingreport.com/article.php?sid=11286&mode=thread&order=0 Thoughts? Most of the stuff they sold were family...

    Transformers or G.I. Joe?

There is an RPG called Cartoon Action Hour along with the supplement "Metal Wars" that lets you play something very similar to Transformers called transbots. Just bought em this weekend haven't read it yet though.

Fighters are Weak? I think not!!

There's a dwarven fighter in one of my groups and he's at least the 2nd most powerful member (the strongest one being an Ogre warrior which is pretty similar).

    State of the RPG Industry

Hmm, I'll be optimistic and say there may be roughly 2 to 2.5 million table-top RPGers (of all games including d20, whitewolf, palladium, gurps, etc). While it sounds like a big number, but out of the (roughly) 300 million people of the US population, that is pretty much just a drop in the bucket.

    Basic D&D rides again!

Gotta agree there. Maybe perhaps make it so that the number of people required to play be more flexible (i.e. anywhere from 2 to 8 players say)

    Average length of campaigns?

Being relatively new to the hobby, I was just wondering if anyone knew what the average length for most campaigns are nowadays? One of my groups will last roughly half a year (but could continue much longer if group wants to). I remember reading in Computer Games magazine where Gary Gygax...

    State of the RPG Industry

Excellent analysis  Regardless of one's personal opinion of 3.5 or the mini's line, I do think they help bring DnD out into the public spotlight and will lead more non-gamers into becoming acquainted with the brand and therefore bringing in new blood into the hobby. White Wolf is also...

    DMing a solo Bard

An adventure that emphasizes use of social skills, i.e. diplomacy, bluff, gather info, sense motive, disguise, bardic knowledge, etc. Something that allows quest completion through alternative means than just simply 'bashing the door down'.

    Non-Wizards Products

Swords & Sorcery and Mongoose are pretty good I think.

    State of the RPG Industry

You sure are right about that ...yeeeesh! They might as well rename that place to GrouchyGeezers.net or WoeisMe.net  Seems like nobody over there has anything positive or healthy to say about the RPG industry or hobby. Depressing place that

Book of Erotic Fantasy hitting stores...

I haven't seen it yet. I'll definitely 'browse' it first to see if it suits me fancy hehe. :o BTW, I heard that the guy who authored it, Anthony Valterra, was fired from WotC because of this. Any truth to it?

    State of the RPG Industry

Pretty much any consumer entertainment industy (pc/console games, music, books, etc.) is VERY hit-driven nowadays, where only the elite few "hits" generates a disproportionate number of sales and marketshare.
