    Warhammer Fantasy Roleplay n00bie

Thing about random careers is that it is just your starting basic career. If you really want to be a wizard's apprentice, you can get there from anywhere for an extra 100 ep (and a cooperative GM). One of the fun things about the game from an RP perspective is that in the natural course of...

    Anyone going to GenCon SoCal?

Tracy Lords was at GenCon Indy a couple years ago, though they were only entertaining questions about whatever it was she did besides porn. I don't remember porn stars exactly last year at SoCal, but they did have a lot of "swimsuit models" and such selling pics of themselves.

    Anyone going to GenCon SoCal?

I found it a lot easier to get into games at SoCal generally, but there were a lot of cancellations on Sunday especially. I think with this new date they're hoping that people will combine it with Thanksgiving travel or something.

    Warhammer FRP 1e vs 2e

The setting is only slightly later than 1E - it takes place not long after the wrap up of Empire in Flames, and there are quite a few references to events from the Enemy Within campaign in the 2E corebook. If anything, the Chaos war has heated up after a massive incursion that left much of...

    Review of Warhammer Fantasy Roleplay

I wasn't aware that Tolkien and mythology had a concept of allowable PC races. The use of the TSR's copyright-dodging circumlocution "halfling" is rather telling as well. Interestingly, WFRP did use just the Basic D&D races, rather than full palette of AD&D races, but I guess gnomes are a bit...

It is less crowded, but then it's also less crowded.

    Review of Warhammer Fantasy Roleplay

I think mechanically 1E does lean more on WFB than AD&D directly, but there are some clear D&D aspects, like the Human/Elf/Halfling/Dwarf race selection, the Lawful/Neutral/Chaotic alignment system, and the rather useless umbrella class system (Ranger/Rogue/Warrior/Academic). Happily, both of...

When will we see the first RPG patent?

If you want to keep it from happening, patent the process for patenting an RPG and don't license it to anybody.

    Anyone going to GenCon SoCal?

Yeah, they moved it up to the weekend before Thanksgiving this year.

    Anyone going to GenCon SoCal?

I dunno if I can handle the 15 minute drive to Anaheim, but with some careful planning and saving up for gas, I may just be able to pull it off.

Blatant abuse of the five foot step?

It's actually d=1/2 g t2 and no, drag isn't significant at these velocities. I'd allow it for 10 ft. (0.791 s) but not for 20 ft. (1.12 s). One way to look at it is that a 5 ft step for a character with 30 move takes about 1 sec, so I'd say anything over a second is too much. What makes it even...

    Would you allow half-races?

If you get half-orcs and half-elves, why aren't there any elf-orcs (orves?)?

Yeah, well, be that as it may, it's hardly likely to win 2 Ennies, including Best Game, or anything.

EMP fields on a sci-fi planet: I need scientific insight!

The magnetic field of the planet could shield it from flares, just like Earth. It's the interaction between the protons and the field that generates EM noise.
