I'm looking for any help anyone can give about playing a Swordmage. I was thinking of playing a Stormsoul Genasi, with Aegis of Assault. I know it only goes up to level 3, but I don't think I can hit that before the book comes out, so I should be fine. Any ideas for say, feats to take? Or...

In point of fact, all the At-Wills except for Sword Burst say Target: One Creature.

Hm, alright. So rather than buying a Magic Implement, he just buys a Magic Weapon. Still, he seems to be a bit disadvantaged. Afterall, +X Implements tend to have special powers... and the Wizard/Warlock/Paladin/Cleric holding them can still be holding a +X weapon, with it's OWN special...

Hm. Okay, I just noticed something. While Swordmages don't get their weapon proficiency bonus when using it as an Implement (same as everyone else) many of their attacks are Weapon, not Implement. Like Booming Blade and Greenflame Blade. Which means they DO get their bonus on many attacks...

The problem is this isn't a case of people wanting Wizards to be able to do everything. This is wanting everything Wizards do to be useful. Why do I HAVE a Knock ritual, if there is never a reason to use it? If it exists, it should ALWAYS be useful somehow.

You know, I was thinking just the other day if it were possible to convert Final Fantasy to 4e. I've decided the easiest way would be using Final Fantasy Tactics, since it already uses classes and map based combat.

I actually thought he meant using an Orb with a Quarterstaff, as in an implement and a two-handed weapon... which wizards normally cannot do. I just didn't know the answer, so I didn't give one to that. I had that thought too, like could I stick a blade on a Wizard Staff and call it a Scythe.

Actually, I think the fluff for Staves already includes things like glowing orbs on the end.

That's kinda ironic, isn't it? Since Lodoss War is so much based on D&D. In fact, I believe that, like Dragonlance, it started off as an actual bunch of played sessions.
