    D&D 4E Brainstorming new 4e subsystems

I must say that I like this idea, although you would probably have all the players using the power at the first possible moment, in order to have it recharge ASAP. this means that adventures would have to be a certain length to ensure that pc's have their '1/2 dailies' for a boss-fight.

    Disease: Abyssal Virus

Strange, I did reply, but i mustn't have hit the right button. I have to run off right now, but I will give you some feedback soon :).

    Arcane Archer and Bladesinger

Nice concepts! I especially like the idea of using the bow as a focus... very smooth. A few things, which may be personal preferences or points of oppinion: I would see the bladesinger as being even more of a warrior-type, requiring years of dedicated training. I'd even consider requiring the...

    Revised GSL on the way

Crosses fingers in the hope that a) The changes are what is needed and b) They come before the damage of 'rats from a ship' syndrome is irreprable. Best of luck, and thanks for letting us know :).

D&D 4E Keith Baker on using 4E disease rules to simulate injuries

Nice. If you wanted to have wounds more frequently, you could always have them linked to critical hits... not with every critical, but you could easily construct a table that gives a chance for this to happen. You could even just roll a d20 again and if it comes up as a natural 20... Bam! it...

Rule of Thump for Short Rests

I would like to cast my vote for the cumulative 10%. As a base-rule, anyway- if the PC's are in more or less dangerous areas, I would modify the roll accordingly. Good idea, Evil DM

New Stealth rules now give us the speed and sneakiness of stealthing parties

Then designate a number of squares to be 'trapped'. these traps can contain leaves or twigs (or anything else that could possibly make noise. even badly stacked boxes), which require the player activating it to make another stealth check, perhaps with a penalty to the roll... I think that one...

How do we make economics that do not limit character concepts?

You raise some interesting points in your inital post (although I find your seemingly scathing referances to an 'idealistic communist setting'... bemusing. amongst other things, a communist setting would have the PC's ensuring that they distributed their wealth evenly amongst the townsfolk that...

    D&D 4E Class-free 4E

Nice! this is the best attempt at a classles 4e that I've seen so far :) . how does it go with constructing the existing PC classes?

    GSL or not GSL

I was under the impression that goodman games where planning on signing the OGL... where have they stated otherwise? (just wondering :) )

When is D&D Insider actually launching?

I must say that I'm quite happy with how things are going at the moment: I won't be getting exited about the virtual tabletop or the character visualiser, unless they ever choose to release a mac compatable version (fat chance), and I like the situation at the moment of getting dragon and...

What is the fate of the GSL and the companies chosing not to use it?

I know next to nothing of American copyright law. What does this process entail? is it only viable for larger companies, or will smaller publishers be able to peruse this avenue as well?

What is the fate of the GSL and the companies chosing not to use it?

It seems like many companies are chosing to veto the GSL, publishing Fourth Edition material on their own terms. How are they going about this and what are the likely ramifications?

Pimp my PC Race #1: Rakasta

I must admit that I was always a fan of the Rakasta as the scheming, sorcerer-type race, with a connection to ancient, magical powers. In this vein, I'd probably give them a bonus to Int or Cha, with a racial power that reflects their innate sorcery (possibly a ranged attack, or something...

    Power to the players!

Wow. cool system. I could see this working really well in the right kind of game. I know that it's not a mechanic in the traditional D&D sense, but I could see a luck-based character getting additional points, either through feats or, in the case of 3.x, a prestige class (I never quite bought...

    Alternate Alignment system

Thank you, that is a very good tip. I must admit that I find it a little annoying that Wizards seems to have created a such a strong bias in 4th edition, prompting the game to to function purely on the 'good vs evil' axis. At least they didn't include the cosmology in the SRD (they would have...

    Alternate Alignment system

For my 4th edition product, a campaign setting, I want to present an alternate alignment system (based on the law/chaos axis, rather than the good/evil). Is this permissible under the GSL? If not, is there any way around this? Perhaps by presenting this alternate system as an option, rather...
