My critque on Gardner Fox is that his stories never quite "gel" for me. The setting just doesn't provide enough strength of place to really anchor it all for me. From that, it just feels like some dude killing other dudes in places with funny names and bedding women from other places with funny...

I'm bumping this one up because I like it, and I felt like expounding more on the Great Kingdom because I'm a Greydork.

I've read two stories of his (can't remember the names), but I recall them as being quite good.

Our lists look very similar, with the exceptions of Vance and Anderson. I always had the hardest time with either Kothar or Kyrik...can't remember, whichever one has "Red Lori" in it. Having known a few Loris in my time...too distracting. Plus the worlds were never as interesting as I would have...

I find myself thinking of the former Great Kingdom area on Oerth. Why, oh why does no one make any adventures in this region? I mean it's "only" the corpse of an empire that has had the most direct influence on the campaign setting. My wheels are starting to turn on this baby. I can imagine...

In the game I ran last night, we didn't notice any themes. This morning, I'm thinking there's definitely strong traces of Korgoth of Barbaria.

Let me know how it works out. I think I might hold off on getting it for my character until a higher level, so I have spells to burn for counterspelling.

Boy, if I was Boromir's player, I would have been pissed.

What if the eucalyptus trees had treants as well? I can imagine a warmer southern wood that has become very dangerous because the treants are having their own "race war."

Boromir also received some belt from Galadriel as well. Hard to say if it was magical or not, he didn't live long enough for anyone to find out. :D

So it seems like a "down-to-brass-tacks" kind of tactic, like if you run out of offensive spells, party's on their last batch of hit points, but BBEG has another fireball up his sleeve. Could be useful at higher levels to expend low level spell slots to stop an enemy from buffing though.

Is it worth the feat slot? How often has it come up in your games?
