WotC's Chris Perkins Talks About... Everything! Upcoming Storylines, Products, Staffing, Other World

This is the truth. They want to keep at an arms reach from third party material while hoping that anything that is produced has a decent level of quality. Not having an OGL is doing that. If something of questionable worth is produced they can shut it down, and if they can't shut it down they...

WotC's Chris Perkins Talks About... Everything! Upcoming Storylines, Products, Staffing, Other World

This made me laugh and was an accurate reflection of how I felt.

WotC's Chris Perkins Talks About... Everything! Upcoming Storylines, Products, Staffing, Other World

They should give the Adventure League exclusive access to the adventures for a year and then release the AL adventurers as pdf modules for sale.

    November's SAGE ADVICE Is Here!

Some of these weapons may become monk weapons but they will never be additions to unarmed strikes.

    November's SAGE ADVICE Is Here!

They are melee weapon attacks made with weapons and are not unarmed strikes. Unarmed strikes do not include weapons.

    November's SAGE ADVICE Is Here!

Unarmed strike is not a weapon. It has never been a weapon. The designers have repeatedly stated this.

    November's SAGE ADVICE Is Here!

Only weapons have weapon properties (finesse or ranged). By eliminating the notion that unarmed strikes are weapon attacks, you eliminate the idea that they could be used for sneak attacks. Unarmed attacks are not weapons thus have no weapon properties. They cannot be used for sneak attacks. The...

    November's SAGE ADVICE Is Here!

An attack with a weapon would still be a melee weapon attack. This wording would be for unarmed strikes.

    November's SAGE ADVICE Is Here!

A pebble is a weapon, an improvised weapon, but a weapon, and improvised weapons have range. You should be able to use it with a sneak attack. The problem with unarmed strike is the ruling that it is a melee weapon attack but not an attack with a weapon. We should call unarmed strikes mundane...

    November's SAGE ADVICE Is Here!

So instead of calling it a melee weapon attack we should call it a melee, non-spell attack or a mundane melee attack to differentiate it from a spell attack but not confuse it with a melee attack made with a weapon.

It can be a weapon - an improvised weapon. You just don't get your proficiency bonus. You can make it a proficient weapon with the weapon master feat. We are now talking three feats to give you both shield AC bonus and an effective 1d4 weapon in your off-hand.

    November's SAGE ADVICE Is Here!

Improvised weapon (shield) attacks require an attack without the benefit of your proficiency bonus. Just because you are proficient with a shield as a defensive item doesn't mean you are proficient with it as a weapon. You could become proficient using the weapon master feat, though.

Unearthed Arcana Light, Dark, Underdark - November's Unearthed Arcana

I agree. You should stick to the base design principles. When you break the one reaction rule you open up a Pandora's Box. Imagine this with polearm master. Overall I like the article though.

Mike Schley's MASSIVE Forgotten Realms Map From SCAG!

I assume including a fold out map with the SCAG would have pushed up costs by quite a bit, but how hard is it to send the image to Gale Force 9 and have them produce it on the same fold out stock as the DM Screens. I would pay $20 for that and I think a lot of others would also.

Take A Look At The DUERGAR From SCAG

I like this idea, but first there needs to be a feat that negates sunlight sensitivity.

Last D&D Survey Results In! Plus What's Up With The Ranger?

You are not running the game for your personal pleasure. Like most things in life that involve more than one person there has to be compromise. As a DM, you want your players to have fun and if it was something I completely detested I would let my players know, but your game should never be...
