[OT] College help....Summon the tech guys.

Darklance, It sounds like the type of job you're looking for is what we call "Field Services" in our company. These are the guys that go around fixing the PCs, setting up new PCs, troubleshooting problems, and such things. Or perhaps a "Network Engineer". Those are the guys that I see...

    Core Books in other languages??

What I've always wondered is, do they use the English measurement system in the UK/Australia/foreign language versions of the core books? It would be funny if people all over Europe were wondering, what the @!#$#@ is a five foot step? :) -Ryan

    [OT]Wrestling... how much is fake?

Referring specifically to last night's match, everything you saw on TV was fake. Shawn Michaels really does have a broken back, however. -Ryan

rant on level drain (not too long)

I think level drain is retarded, and I say that not just because it recently happened to my character. Not only does the paperwork really suck (I don't remember what I spent my skill points on last time I leveled), but it simply doesn't make sense in-game. "Hmm, I could do ability X yesterday...

ECL of character with all 18s?

Maybe I'm a wierdo, but a character with all 18s doesn't sound super-powerful to me. At lower levels, maybe, but the advantage wouldn't be so great as levels are gained. Could be this morning's dose of crack rock talking, though. -Ryan

Caliber's Storyhour (DragonStar ... well sort of)

Zoltan is a walking death machine. IIRC, he can fire 9 shots per round, each shot dealing 4D10 damage. Orendil, on the other hand, just can't end his streak of bad luck. At some point, a critical failure caused his assault blaster to break, and then came the energy drain fiasco that you'll...

[OT] 17 years left. What to do?

Re: Re: Attention Passengers: Seems to me the real advantage of the 401(k) is that the money you put in, as well as any capital gains from your investments, is tax-deferred. All that money you would have paid in income taxes and capital gains taxes is invested instead, allowing you to earn...

What is it about Drizzt that you just can't stand?

No kidding. Those first-person "Drizzt Diary" sections that Salvatore started putting in the books like Starless Night are just plain vomit-inducing. But I suppose I kind of liked them when I was a teenager, which just about sums up Drizzt's appeal.

Caliber's Storyhour (DragonStar ... well sort of)

Just thought I would chime in here and say hello. I play Orendil, the bungling elf. He falls off tanks, he falls out of windows, he fails every move silently check...I even shot Milo in the back (though I was playing Zoltan at the time). Errr...hello!

[OT] Do you believe in ghosts?

You're kidding? Someone actually tried it? I thought I was making a clever reference to the human race.

[OT] Do you believe in ghosts?

Interesting. Why is the Monkey Concept so hard to accept? If I write a program which randomly produces digits, it will most likely produce the first five decimal places of pi in a reasonably short time. There's no guarantee that the monkeys would produce War and Peace even given infinite...

[OT] Do you believe in ghosts?

Sounds like the so-called "sleep paralysis". It's a normal psychological occurrence, though it can be frightening. It used to happen to me quite often.

[OT] Do you believe in ghosts?

Yes to the first question. No to the second, but my entire immediate family would say yes.
