Tell that to a Saints fan. I realize that our chances of making the playoffs were slim, but that loss to Jacksonville was just heartbreaking. :( -Ryan

    College Football

Famous New Orleans Bowl? :) I wasn't aware that this game existed until I was informed that the Superdome garage will be closed this week and all contract parkers have to find somewhere else to park. The "Famous New Orleans Bowl" owes me 15 bucks in parking fees this week! -Ryan

    Which Console should I buy?

Wow, Tsyr. I usually agree with you, but I have to respectfully and strongly disagree here. Have you played any of the other Metroid games? Maybe the problem is that you approached Metroid Prime as a First Person Shooter, which it isn't. Metroid Prime is one of the best games I've played in...

    The new Battlestar

I absolutely loved the new Battlestar Galactica. It really drew me in. I only have vague memories of reruns of the original show. I don't even usually like sci-fi all that much. When I saw "Battlestar Galactica" in the channel guide, it triggered my memory, and I figured I'd give it a shot...

    Which Console should I buy?

As an interlude to the Final Fantasy bashing, there is a new FF game "Crystal Chronicle" coming out for Gamecube early next year. It looks to be a big departure from the standard FF format. Who knows, it may be good. Though, I've read that the focus is on coop multiplayer, which isn't really...

    Which Console should I buy?

Well, I liked FF7, but I agree that Final Fantasy "jumped the shark" starting with FF8. It seems clear to me that the FF team would rather be making movies, but are stuck making video games. That commercial that they've been running for FFX-2 with the music concert actually makes we want to...

    Which Console should I buy?

Unforunately, all the modern consoles are sorely lacking in the "catch the giant pixel with the vaguely anthropomorphic blob" style of game that was popular in the early 80's :) -Ryan

    Which Console should I buy?

Pet Peeve: Gamecube appeals to children, yes, but also to mature adults. It doesn't have that many blood/explosions/boobies games, if that's your idea of mature (I'm not implying you think that way, but, sadly, many people do). Judging by your list of pc games, you're not going to find many...

How inconsiderate of me: http://www.nintendo.com/consumer/zelda_bundle.jsp You also have to register your Gamecube, but that's no problem assuming you purchased it legally and whatnot. -Ryan

    Zelda Collection

Any other Gamecube owners around here going to take of advantage of the Zelda Collection offer from Nintendo? If you subscribe to Nintendo Power, or if you purchase any two of [Mario Kart Double Dash, Mario and Luigi: Superstar Saga, Mario Party 5, 1080 Avalanche], you become eligible for a...

A Plea For Help (Mac related, but PC relevant)

Thanks for the replies. After discussing the situation with my fiancee, she decided that support for color printing would be useful to her. Since color lasers are a bit pricey, we decided to go with an inexpensive inkjet. It wasn't the solution I had hoped for, but it wasn't a major...

A Plea For Help (Mac related, but PC relevant)

I got my first Mac about a month ago. I don't have a printer that's supported on the Mac. We've been getting along by transferring our documents to our old PC and printing them from there. The printer has run out of ink. I could buy an ink cartiridge, but I don't want to. This printer was...

    Playing Thru a Chat room

Sounds like they've got a standalone map creator/viewer which has the capability to serialize/de-serialize a map as a text string. From the description, it sounds like it can even generate deltas rather than sending the whole map when there's a change. Elton: I'd be happy to play around with...

    Playing Thru a Chat room

That's a pretty darn cool idea. I've toyed with the idea of writing a chat client with RPG facilities, but I never thought of that approach. Are IRC clients these days extendible enough that you can get a smooth integration? -Ryan

    Gah! Help!

Perhaps try using the BIOS to autodetect the drive paramters, then set said parameters manually, making sure the drive is in LBA mode. Win98 fdisk may not be able to see it otherwise. That's all I got. -Ryan

When kids of today play classic video games

I'm not really old enough to have had one of those "red dot" portable electronic football games (26). My older brother did, though, and I used to attempt to play it. I really can't blame the kids for laughing at that particular game. :) -Ryan

Mac OS X 10.3 (Panther): First Impressions

This has nothing to do with my previous grievances, as I haven't tested all that serious stuff yet. But ... I upgraded to 10.3 tonight, and boy am I impressed. Love the fast user switching. Love Exposé. Love the new Command+Tab doodad. Everything is smoother. Quake3 is 20% faster*. I...
