D&D Movie/TV First Footage of D&D Honor Among Thieves: Dungeons, Dragons, Teamwork, With Superhero Vibe

Sounds utterly craptastic. Piss on accessibility for the masses, I want something of substance with a solid dose of quasi-historical verisimilitude. Make it Bronze Age, Iron Age, Dark Age, or Medieval Period as you please, but keep the Marvel-esque garbage out of D&D.

    Shemeska's Planescape Storyhour - (Updated 18June2024)

Your plate is overly full, Shemeska, but you do not lack for purpose in your day-to-day routine. Should you be interested in a storyline concerning a dual-expression virus ending civilization as we know it as a much-needed break from the incessant demands of the covid fiasco, pick up a used copy...

    A Question of Religious Character

Players routinely display "flexible interpretations" of what their deity expects of them which are tailored to suit the player's present circumstances. It's the job of the DM to enforce a standard of proper and acceptable behavior once it's been agreed upon.

    A Question of Religious Character

This is when metagame or time-out conversations are needed. Whether it concerns the particulars of alignment or the prioritization of glory-seeking as a recruitment tool vs. direct proselytizing, the player and DM need to define what's expected of a cleric before the campaign gets rolling.

    A Question of Religious Character

Denying spells to wayward or lackadaisical clergy is a tradition that goes all the way back to AD&D. If you want the benefits of channeling divine power, then you need to toe the line when it comes to the policies/worldview of the specific deity or general pantheon your cleric worships.

RPG Evolution: Looking Ahead to 2022

For many of us who grew up playing earlier editions in earlier decades, the line you speak of has already been crossed and pointedly spat upon.

RPG Evolution: Looking Ahead to 2022

Sad but likely true. All the more reason to purchase good-or-better condition books from earlier editions.

    Shemeska's Planescape Storyhour - (Updated 18June2024)

Seasons's greetings, happy holidays, and may the auld lang syne of this campaign continue on in the not-too-distant future, Shemeska.

    D&D 5E Latest D&D Errata: Drow, Alignment, & More

I cannot relate to what is happening to my old hobby. Should I say anything more, warnings and points would most assuredly follow, so I'll quietly keep on enjoying that which I grew up with a few decades ago just the way I remember it.

If time isn't too pressing, might you offer us one or two examples of said culture shock, please?

Blog (A5E) Spellcasting Monsters in Level Up

But...but that violates the four-round combat rule and might possibly make the players WORK for their experience points and swag. You unconscionably heartless FIEND, you!

Acererak might just object to his name being deleted, as might Vecna. I'd delete the Nameless Horrors feature instead.

D&D General Critical Role Video game in the works.

This explains much. I've never cared for the Eberron setting, so anything initiated and promulgated within that milieu never made it to my radar screen. As it spreads I take belated notice of it, as I have with Critical Role and Exandria.

D&D 5E WotC Announces New Critical Role Hardcover Adventure

Oh, how I hope not to see some of my ideas that I never fully developed re-thought, polished, and in print. The Far Realm/Lovecraft element might just give me a kick in the teeth.

https://www.enworld.org/threads/critical-role-video-game-in-the-works.683307/page-2#post-8428045 This reply is also for OakenHart. The human empire is the corrupt and dangerous one while the one run by the Drow--a race traditionally as cruel and murderous as one could want in an opposing force...

D&D General Critical Role Video game in the works.

I do enjoy much of their roleplaying and many of the animatics on YouTube, but I'm less than fond of the moral inversion of the political entities in the world Matt Mercer created. It's a thoroughly detailed labor of love, but he's taken it in a direction that disappoints me. I'll have to wait...

RPG Print News – Goodman Games, Modiphius, Monte Cook Games, and More

It's good to see MODULES being revived. Not everyone wants to shell out $50 for an actual book that will be used to run one to three adventures and then sit there collecting dust on a shelf. Sure, the books have additional content (spells, monsters, etc.) in the back, but so did modules back in...
