The Wild Beyond the Witchlight Review Round-Up – What the Critics Say

This is the unvarnished truth as time is the blast furnace that separates the steel from the slag.

    Shemeska's Planescape Storyhour - (Updated 18June2024)

A yugoloth pharmacist? Nope, nothing at all tainted or toxic about those tinctures, pills, and salves. No way, no how, not ever... meaningful silence Ahem.

    TSR Staff Levels at TSR

Investment groups often THINK they know enough about a business to turn it around and manage it profitably, but this is not always the case. Egos and ignorance play a role here, just as they do most everywhere else. When it turns out that the investment group bit off more than they could chew...

    TSR Staff Levels at TSR

Probably not well. Cerberus Capital picked up Chrysler and didn't really understand the specifics of the automobile business and it didn't result in anything positive. Investment groups are all about finances and profiteering. The ethical and wise ones want to do more than streamline operations...

D&D 5E Monte Cook Games Announces "Path of the Planebreaker" for 5E

Time will tell. In my experience "new and improved" usually isn't and proves to be more a case of two steps forward, five steps backward. If it's Planescape, simply update it for the 5th Ed. rules. If it's something else, then make it something else and NAME IT something else so as not to...

D&D 5E Monte Cook Games Announces "Path of the Planebreaker" for 5E

Trying to reprise something so rich in depth and character as was Planescape is a dicey proposition at best. Grognards like myself who were there at the gaming table when Planescape was an ongoing phenomenon are not inclined to be very forgiving, so I genuinely hope they don't foul this up.

D&D General RA Salvatore Wants To Correct Drizzt’s Racist Tropes

Salvatore is a blatant liar. From the get-go, the Drow were portrayed as racially/genetically evil or, at the very least, morally tainted. Their introduction in the Fiend Folio and the Queen of the Demonweb Pits module certainly drove that portrayal home. He could not have possibly missed this...

TSR TSR3 Blames Widespread Pushback On WotC

    D&D 5E WotC: 5 D&D Settings In Development?

Given a choice between major alterations and not being revived, I'll go with the latter. They got it right the first time and I'd much rather it remain what it was meant to be rather than undergo major revisions that turn it into the tabletop RPG equivalent of New Coke.

    D&D 5E WotC: 5 D&D Settings In Development?

Leave Planescape the [bleep] alone. Other than transposing from 2E to 5E, don't mess with it in any way, shape, manner, or form.

Critical Role Critical Role's New Show - Exandria Unlimited!

May Matt Mercer have a grand time cutting loose and not having to worry about balancing and remembering five dozen DM-related variables at once. He's more than earned some Player time.

    Stout and Hairy?

Tolkien had it right and AD&D halflings are the real McCoy. All others are saccharine compared to the original sugar.

    Shemeska's Planescape Storyhour - (Updated 18June2024)

Your players were fortunate to have a DM with talent and the will to avoid "candy coating" Evil. The Baern--indeed all fiends--are supposed to be various flavors of vileness. You didn't harp on it nor did you glorify it. Simply showing the unvarnished reality of what the party was up against was...

    Shemeska's Planescape Storyhour - (Updated 18June2024)

Shemeska is currently walking their canoloth and will be absent for a bit longer. Unless exercised vigorously on a regular basis--big walk plus demolition of a halfling village, for example--they are absolute ruin on the household furniture.

D&D 5E Do You Prefer Sandbox or Party Level Areas In Your Game World?

Sandbox is preferred, but with readily or semi-readily available lore and/or warnings to let the party know that Island X is a death sentence at their current level.

    Shemeska's Planescape Storyhour - (Updated 18June2024)

When did the players realize just how deep a campaign you'd constructed and start taking notes to avoid being caught flat-footed by events of the past, be it theirs personally or of the Planes in general?

    D&D 5E Epic Monsters: Níðhöggr

With an intelligence of 3, he won't have the most cutting of insults to direct at the eagle via the squirrel . Did you mean to type 13, perhaps?

    Shemeska's Planescape Storyhour - (Updated 18June2024)

I'd love to see this campaign put in book form with 2 or 3 illustrations per chapter done by DiTerlizzi, Brom, or perhaps Wayne Barlowe in the style of his "God's Demon" illustrations.
