    Welcome to ENWorld 2

 If Internet Explorer didn't absolutely :rant::rant::rant: :rant::rant: that's what I'd do. But unfortunately Suckernet Exploder can't display floating images in a floating div that contains a clear:both div for alignment purposes. CSS is supposed to be clean - so why...

Browsers and Resolutions - Firefox Wins!

It's a margin issue. I saw it this weekend on my mom's computer which is 1024x768. I'm looking to rework the styles - I really want a *true* css layout for ENWorld, not this table nightmare courtesy vbulletin. However, a pure css vbulletin skin will take a good month to dev.

    "automerge doubleposts"

The story hours aren't usually updated twice in the same day though. Further Story Hours might be better off migrated to the blog area (just a thought). Note - it is possible for me to put a seperator into the merge like this: -------------------------- Automerge ---------------------------...

.sigs showing up no matter what

That whole suite of options isn't working and won't be reimplemented until I'm sure I don't have to make any further major template changes. They are all template based and though they are neat they significantly increase my work load when Jelsoft issues a patch to the vbulletin software.

These are the changes of 2 1/2 years?

We'll see how things settle out. The site is in constant dev. The main thing is we've finally moved to a responsive and maintainable codebase that can be adjusted as the wishes of the community change.

    You're right - my apologies.

Browsers and Resolutions - Firefox Wins!

I haven't changed the google analytics code - they changed it about 2 months ago. EN World has always used the newer version. Further I do not appreciate the hostile attitude. I have a right to place code to monitor how this site is used just as a brick and mortar store has a right to put...

    Another inappropriate Google ad

If you find a google ad offensive click on the ads by google link and tell them. Occassionally they have idiots post ads into sections that shouldn't go there. If enough reports come in quick enough Google will look at it and cancel the ad without refund if inappropriate.

Are you sure? The invocation code has recently been changed significantly. 64,318 to be precise. I'll put up with IE 6 a little while longer.

WotC Web Forums down all the time!

The machine doesn't care about the contents of the post. The thread moving could be problematic if they didn't fully test their database mirroring.

WotC Web Forums down all the time!

When last I worked with WotC they had convinced vbulletin to run in a 4 server configuration that still hurts my head to think about. It was running well until they decided to unify the logins. That was a very big mistake in my opinion. It would also seem that there's no redundancy to the...

Browsers and Resolutions - Firefox Wins!

Google Analytics reports the following are the top 10 browsers for ENWorld... Another thing to note - the IE share is all versions of IE. The dread IE 6 accounts for less than a third of all IE's, so IE 6 is about 15% of the browser traffic here. This will have bearing on how much longer I'm...

    Odd image behavoir

IE 6 does that to images when it fails to load them completely. The bug is in that browser, not the site. I strongly recommend against the use of any version of IE, but especially IE 6 The browser is not standards complaint and will not be able to read pages designed to make use of CSS 2.1. IE...

    Enworld 2 Slow

By now everyone is using cached images and javascript. Initially this wasn't the case.

    Please Use Tags

You can add 2 tags on each post, though not using the quick reply (you need the full editor)

    Please Use Tags

By giving your posts and threads tags you can make it easier to find. vbulletin now constructs a 'tag cloud' as seen on some blogs.

Advertisers - Please contact Russ or I if owed impressions

Impressions from the old system need to be rolled over by hand. Banners from the old system are too small for the new (you *can* run them, but they'll get distorted). The ad system has been debugged and believed to be stable at this time. Keep your receipts though in case a problem arises.
