It's all about familiarity. I'm young enough where I was taught both systems side-by-side in school, but everyday use has encouraged me to "think" in Imperial. I know roughly what a foot, a pound, and 30 mph "feel" like. I can't say the same for most, if not all, metric-derived measurements...

Plenty sold here in the US, though, where Imperial is the de facto standard for measurements that matter in an RPG, no matter what the government's official position might be.

QFT. In my gaming group, which includes two married couples, one woman's fighter is a butt-kicking crazy Amazon warrior. The other is a coquettish wizard, which I suppose fits the "female gamer" stereotype, but she was the DM for the last go-round, so that's got to count for something.

I'll be running with RAW for a good long time before I start thinking about house rule candidates, at least in terms of mechanics. Fluff-wise, I might allow tiefling characters to have less, uh, prominent horns and no tail. In fact, I might enforce it.

This is news to me. Obviously, my group doesn't use it, at least not as written. Would have been handy a few sessions ago, when the DM had to fudge damage rolls to prevent himself from killing a PC he didn't mean to... :p

Yeah, but Winona's a college town 10 times the size. Park Rapids is a little resort town. I guess I'm only surprised because I've been there, and to think that it could support a gaming store is... bizarre.
