    D&D 4E 4E wackiness escalation

Most such spells were ridiculous anyway. No big loss as far as I'm concerned.

    D&D 4E 4E wackiness escalation

At first I cringed when I read that. Never again will the characters be the wimpy underdogs afraid of a kobold. Never will a fighter be afraid of an angry commoner with a knife. But you know, I''ve made my peace with that. D&D has become a game about heroes, with no room for the average joe...

    Playtesting?

I'm trying not to get my hopes up, but I've got a playtest group primed and ready. And now we wait...

    Playtesting?

Same here. I certainly hope this effort pays off. At this point, I'd be awfully disappointed if I didn't get in.

    Playtesting?

    Anybody heard anything new?

    Playtesting?

Awesome. And according to Chris Thomasson, Logan is a big iTunes fan. So Mr. Bonner, To what address should I send the iTunes gift certificate? ;)

    Changes to Devils and Demons

I personally dig it. I never liked that the demons and devils of old could have easily been called something else.

    WotC Blogs II

It was mentioned somewhere, but I can't recall the source. It's also in Der Kluge's little preview download.

    WotC Blogs II

I read it, and to be honest, I'm not sure he really said anything we haven't heard time and time again. :\

    WoTC Adventure Design

I agree. Personally, after about the 3rd game session in the same place, I start getting board with it. If some of the newer adventures were designed with multiple two game sessions sized locations in mind, I would be pretty happy. Or maybe I'm just developing ADD.

Quietly Back to the Past (in spirit)?

True, but "fight off" and "deal with" are not exactly the same thing. I think designers were afraid to put in things like that because they didn't fit the formula, even if there were ways outside of combat to handle the beholder safely. In short, I think 3e's formula heavy adventure design...

Quietly Back to the Past (in spirit)?

That's true for home brewed adventures, but not for 99% of published ones.

Quietly Back to the Past (in spirit)?

Simple solution: Don't buy them. For the first time ever, I'm really going to make an effort to avoid all those unnecessary purchases and try to stick to the core as much as possible. Previously, I compulsively purchased way to many books, and then felt like I had to include stuff from them to...

Quietly Back to the Past (in spirit)?

Are CR's gone? That'd be nice. It seems like a lot of the developers are really taking a step back to look a the older editions of D&D. The "run away and fight another day" mentality sounds like it may be returning while the "D&D math means we should be able to survive this" way of design may...

    Radiant Machine building DDI

I just hope this dozen all turn into the pile of broken promises that we got during the early days of 3e. :(

    WotC Blogs II

And it'd be wrong. I refer you to Wraith: the Oblivion, the most wonderfully written unplayable RPG of all time.

    Arcane/Divine

I REALLY hope they do one massive list of generic spells, and then have a list of templates that differ the spellcasting types. For example: Arcane Template: Spells are based on Intelligence, require verbal and somatic components. Suffer from Spell Failure due to armor. Spells with an elemental...
