Boston Game Day on 3/10/12: registration for games is open!

On the thread of what we need... There's discussion about bringing food. What sort of food should we bring? Actual meal items, or snacky bits? I'll be hauling these things the entire length of the Red Line, plus a bit, so I need to plan in advance (plus...totally forgot that it's outage...

How do you store your gaming things?

The floor is just the largest shelf in the house

    Ashamed of being a Gamer?

I have a fist-size D20 sitting on my desk at work, and I periodically get gaming materials delivered to the office. It'd also be hard to hide the shelves of gaming books from my wife... I also work at a Linux-based software company. I am far from the geekiest. Heck, I work with the guy that...

Gaming Efficiency: do you get a lot done in a session

The group I play with online is oh so very slow...I think we're probably 9 hours into a 9 room dungeon that isn't really all that complicated. Still a couple rooms left. We're working on it. Partially it's a rules thing, we've bounced between rulesets a lot, though we are now settling on a...

Boston Game Day on 3/10/12: registration for games is open!

Bonus - it looks like the Red Line actually runs that early on a Saturday morning, so I only have to haul myself to Alewife and then zone out on the T until it stops at the other side of the city. Huzzah!

If it's not full, piratecat's early and walkingcorpse's later eta: stupid phone doesn't believe "piratecat" is a word.

Do you like being saved? Or the Dues ex machina in action

It depends on the nature of the "oh crap" encounter. Was there a good way for the PCs to get themselves out of trouble? I don't think a no-win situation is any fun (unless it's a plot element). I do agree that the GM probably should have done something to even up the odds, rather than just...

Boston Game Day: March 10, 2012: GMs and games needed!

Out of curiousity, what time does the first round o' gaming begin?

    Do you mark your books?

I use sticky notes to mark important pages. I'll also put subtle marks in the corners inside the cover to indicate that the book is mine, particularly when I know there will be multiple of that book where I'm playing.

    Public Transport in Indy?

It might be more cost effective to stay downtown, it seems, anyway, between a car rental and parking fees. Guess we'll look into it, thanks for the tips

    Public Transport in Indy?

A taxi is probably pretty pricey, might be better off with a rental. Is there ample parking near the venue?

    Public Transport in Indy?

Apologies if this belongs in a different forum. My friend and I will be attending GenCon Indy for the first time, this summer. We're trying to cut down on costs, so we'll be staying a little further from the convention center, probably towards the airport. How is public transportation in...

    GM 'Tools'

A DM screen is pretty useful for fudging^W hiding rolls from your players, as well as your notes. Basically, your mission as a GM is to make sure that everyone at the table is having fun. When I actually had a group that I played regularly with at a table, my "tools" were generally my books, a...

How do you like your elves?

Extinct ;) If not possible, I'll go for the Tolkein-ish slightly-otherworldly, haughty types. Silvanesti-esque, perhaps.

What is the best Schtick you've ever...

Had a halfling druid. I got tired of my party treating our captured enemies too nice during interrogations, so there was an on the fly revamp of personality. Turns out, my halfling was VERY skilled at getting information out of people. Borderline evil, but he only did nasty things to the bad...
