Spoilers Star Trek: Deep Space Nine

That's a perennial problem with both alternate universe and alternate timeline stories. Realistically, something as complex as DNA combinations, not to mention relationships and timing of 'encounters', would be so subject to the butterfly effect that nobody conceived after the diverging event...

    Arrive AT or Arrive TO?

Me neither, it was jarring seeing it in the thread title because I've never seen it elsewhere.

Spoilers Star Trek: Deep Space Nine

A neat approach would be assessing worlds for Federation membership and finding that, while in some respects the prospective members need to do some work in order to measure up, in others it's the Federation that needs to work to measure up to being worth joining.

Spoilers Star Trek: Deep Space Nine

Just saying, it's more of an "is" than a "would be". Certainly still some ground to explore there, just the actual qualification process is already done.

Unless, of course, the final impetus that pushed him into obeying Luke and going against his programming was not that it was an order, but that his friends were in imminent danger and he chose to go along with Luke in hopes of saving them.

Spoilers Star Trek: Deep Space Nine

There's not really the demand for it. But what I would hope is that Picard, Lower Decks and Prodigy between them have demonstrated that there is sufficient interest in just continuing the story of that post-TNG/DS9/Voyager setting in general, and working in ties to the preceding series as and...

    The Enterprise through the ages

But on the other hand, materials and construction weren't as advanced, and structural integrity fields weren't a thing. Building it strong enough for a planetary landing that was hardly ever expected to occur would have been a serious overhead, and might have compromised performance.

    The Enterprise through the ages

And had a ridiculously short service life. After the Enterprise stayed around for over 20 years with a few refits, the Enterprise-A gets called back for decommissioning only a few years later.

After he told the Ewoks that he'd smite them with his magic. He did choose to impersonate a deity contrary to his programming, he just wasn't very persuasive at it.

    The Enterprise through the ages

I'm a fan of the sleeker Enterprises. The E always felt large and imposing on-screen. The D had this magic trick of looking either big and powerful or sleek and fast depending upon the angle it was viewed from. I've always liked the Ambassador class, it managed to truly feel like a transitional...

Spoilers Star Wars: Andor season 2

On the other hand, accepting the idea of sentient, free-willed beings that are literally built to serve can lead to some dangerous failures of imagination. We see it in-universe during the prequel trilogy - a galaxy inured to having sentient servants in the form of droids collectively then has...
