    E6: The Game Inside D&D

If you add this then add Axiomatic, Anarchic, Holy, and Unholy as attainable magic weapon bonuses. Each requires Caster Level 7th and the 4th level domain spell for the law, chaos, good, and evil domain (granted power is +1 to caster level for those spells).

    Little Known Rules of D&D

A letter opener is an unsharpened dagger too. While I could very well punch you in the face with the hand that's holding it, I don't think it's stretching the imagination by saying I could use it to stab you in the eye. But then again a short sword can't be used to cut anything, so I guess this...

    Little Known Rules of D&D

I don't have any splat books handy. Point is, if you had a race with, say, 5 bonus languages and a racial +2 to Int, it's possible. Bad example, sorry ;-p

    E6: The Game Inside D&D

Still working on my campaign. While working I created the following list to help with placing magic items. It follow's EvilHalfling's wonderous items lists. ARMOR/SHIELD BONUSES NOTE – Prices do not include cost of masterwork armor or shield. +1 Enhancement Bonus: CL 3, 1,000gp. +2 Enhancement...

    Little Known Rules of D&D

A sai, that pointy thing Raphael from the ninja turtles uses, deals bludgeoning damage. A wizard replaces one of its bonus languages with draconic instead of just adding it to his list. A halfling wizard with an Intelligence modifier of +5 couldn't learn elven (for example) if he wanted to...

    E6: The Game Inside D&D

So I've been working this E6 campaign since I found out about it. On the topic of high level spells, I noticed another that you're missing that's fairly important: Atonement [SPELL] Prerequisite: Spellfocus (abjuration), Knowledge (religion) 4 ranks, divine caster level 6th. Benefit: You can...

    Dragon Skin

Just noticed that. Another mix up. Spell list says it grants energy resistance 10 Spell description says it grants energy resistance equal to twice your caster level (maximum 20 at 10th level)

    Dragon Skin

Could you be a bit more descriptive? Are you talking about dragon hide used to make armor, a class or racial feature, or a spell? Edit: Nevermind, I see it now. Dragonskin grants a + 3enhancement bonus to natural armor +1 per two levels above 5th level (to a maximum of +5 at 9th level)...

    Newbies

Back in my college days I had a gaming group for a sci-fi based game I created. We were enjoying ourselves in the wreckage of an alien spacecraft until about the second combat. Our newbie, a 20 year old man, started crying (literally, full on tears and runny nose) because his character was hit...

Separating racial and cultural traits [PEACH]

I left it all generic by design. If you use a published campaign setting or flesh one out yourself, of course you can make your cultural aspects more narrow since you've established what each culture is, in essence. I also left it generic to allow its use on a smaller scale. Imagine you're...

Separating racial and cultural traits [PEACH]

Someone in one of the 4e threads made a comment saying that they wanted to see racial and cultural traits separated. The idea struck me as pretty cool. After all, if a human is raised among elves from birth, why wouldn't he become proficient with the longbow, shortbow, longsword and rapier like...

D&D 4E Why Vancian spellcasting is good for the game (and should mostly be in 4e)

When you describe it like that, it sounds almost exactly like the spellcasting system created for Dungeons and Dragons Online... a part of me has been dreading that game the second I heard about 4e and that dread has just gotten stronger.

Maximum Enhancement for a Bane weapon?

A magic weapon isn't epic until it has a total bonus of +11 or more or an enhancement bonus of +6 or more. A +1 Keen Flaming Unholy Vorpal Longsword is not an epic weapon. It's just a Longsword with a +1 to attack rolls, +1+2d6 to damage, and a 17-20/x2 threat range that decapitates on a confirm.

    Knowledge Skills in Combat

I like the way dragon magazine's ecologies articles do it. They have a list of DC's for applicable knowledge skills listing what one with increasing levels of familiarity would know about those creatures. This includes things like resistances, immunities, special attacks, as well as perhaps a...

    E6: The Game Inside D&D

Skill Beyond Your Years is Ry's brainchild. Not mine. What feats are you describing btw?

    E6: The Game Inside D&D

One of the capstone feats posted by Ry (and bastardized my me for clarification and format consitancy): Skill Beyond Your Years [General] Prerequisite: Character level 6th. Benefit: Pick a class skill. Your max ranks in that skill becomes character level +5. Normal: Your max ranks in a class...

    The Toughness Feat

I'd be careful with a HP/HD feat. There's a reason the toad familiar doesn't grant +2 Constitution anymore.

    E6: The Game Inside D&D

A bug in the system So I did the Archmage since that makes a pretty iconic antagonist. Unfortunately, I ran into a stumper that I think I've been able to fix. Archmage Training [Prestige] You have begun training as an archmage. Prerequisite: No other prestige feats, Skill Focus (Spellcraft)...

    E6: The Game Inside D&D

I thought to myself, a villian needs to be iconic and memorable and different from all the minions in some way. I always liked PRC's because they let you do that. With only 6 levels, that's not enough to really get a lot out of them and I loathe class feature feats. I basically took the...
