D&D General What would your "fourth core rulebook" be?

I just read (late to the party) that Adventurer's League is shifting gears to Legends of Greyhawk setting that is integrated with D&D Beyond rather than its own AL website. I know recent years of AL have opened up for play in the various annual campaign books as WELL as multiple seasons of...

D&D General What would your "fourth core rulebook" be?

Oh, the other possible 4th Rulebook would be to go the D&D Essentials route from 2010-2012 and publish a Rules Compendium that duplicates the core encounter (combat, social, etc), exploration, character creation, status effects, creature/monster/npc/pet stat block interpretation, downtime...

D&D General What would your "fourth core rulebook" be?

Essentials Kit, or perhaps Tales of the Yawning Portal. Maybe Planescape: Adventures in the Multiverse box set as it's the one setting book that's really core to the base assumptions of the game (though Van Richten's Guide to Ravenloft, Spelljammer: Adventures IN SPACE!, and a few of the...

Wizards of the Coast Releases Day 1 Errata for Monster Manual

So no fix for the misspelling of Merrow as "Merror" in the levels index?

WotC WotC Removes Digital Content Team Credits From D&D Beyond

I mean this criticism hasn't kept me from buying the new versions of the book but it's very disappointing. There's a lot of good people who have done solid work on these books, and a lot of good people who did solid work on them that didn't get credit for doing so (like Faith here).

WotC WotC Removes Digital Content Team Credits From D&D Beyond

That's the same response I got not long after I submitted a ticket (per earlier in this thread).

    D&D (2024) Here's The Full List of Changes in the D&D 2024 Player's Handbook

Conformed to the needs of fitting with World Axis and Planescape by eliminating the Phlogistron and replacing it with the Astral Sea aka Astral Plane, which can apparently now be accessed physically if you go far enough out in Wild Space.

D&D General D&D 2024 does not deserve to succeed

Starting at Level 0 helps with a lot of the action trope fatigue. Start players off with just the origin features (species, background, origin feat) - the tool training would go a long way to them having a career prior to full on adventuring. The 3 NPC classes from Tasha's and Essentials Kit...

D&D General Elephants are cheaper than Warhorses

Just excelled out a spreadsheet of art objects, trade goods, money, weapons, armor, mounts, vehicles, etc, for the sake of understanding the economy. That said, Eberron didn't give us prices for their magical vehicles, nor did Descent Into Avernus nor Acquisitions Incorporated. I was able to...

Dungeons & Dragons 2024 Player's Handbook Is Already Getting Errata

Is it intentional that Barbarians and Fighters can only change a single weapon mastery per long rest while Paladins, Rangers, and Rogues can change any or both of their masteries per long rest? Seems like an oversight, though maybe it was a balancing issue for those two classes in particular...

D&D General D&D 2024 does not deserve to succeed

That was actually the change in Tasha's Cauldron of Everything; they've backpedaled since then to make most such features per short rest again (and make short rests more important for more classes, to boot).

D&D General D&D 2024 does not deserve to succeed

Huh, forgot the screenplay was by Roald Dahl! In all seriousness though, not really. Characters are still far less resilient than they were in 4E.

    D&D (2024) Keith Baker's new Eberron Book

Yes, they have – that's what I meant when I said it may be easier on WotC's side. But the process takes Authorial buy-in, RPGNow Buy-in, and Hasbro Buy-in. Before the buy-out, it also took Fandom Buy-in, which is why it literally only existed for a handful of Critical Role stuff that everyone...

2024 Player's Handbook Officially Live on D&D Beyond

Yeah, I'm happy with my physical copy for now; will wait for the digital copy to go up on 9/17 – I don't want to up my subscription just to get more easily searchable rules two weeks earlier.

    D&D (2024) Keith Baker's new Eberron Book

The thing to note is that DM's Guild is now owned by Roll20, against which WotC is launching a direct competitor platform. So while from the D&D Beyond side of things, the licensing seems to be getting easier to bring in 3rd party content ever since WotC bought D&D Beyond, from an RPGNow side of...

    D&D (2024) Reworked…revised…redone….but

Given that they're calling it now "Revised 5th Edition" a la "2nd Edition AD&D -- Revised" from 1995, I think we can safely put it in the same category as the various revisions to Basic D&D (B/X, BECMI, Rules Cyclopedia, Classic D&D), 2e AD&D Revised, v3.5 D&D, and 4e Essentials. If you want to...

    D&D (2024) Reworked…revised…redone….but

I will forgive you for thinking this will happen! I'd argue that now that the first book is out, anything they publish referring to it would be more official than the series of [name pending] changes made over the last couple years. But for now, I'll be taking this as official word that these...

Just FYI, Hasbro/WotC seem to be officially calling it the Revised 5th Edition now.
