The New FREEPORT: CITY OF ADVENTURE Book Is Enormous!

Does anyone ever actually use a city map? Is it really necessary? If you do use it, how?

D&D 5E My First Time Running/Playing 5E. LMoP 6+ Hour Session. Spoiler Alert!

I'm also currently running this game for my group. We played a bunch of the playtest before switching to Dungeon World and then to Burning Wheel. The players are very excited to get back to D&D and loved the first session of LMoP. Here's my blog detailing our adventures...

    [April] What Are You Reading?

I'm currently loving The First Fifteen Lives of Harry August by Claire North. It's fantastic so far and reminds me of Replay by Ken Grimwood, which is one of my favorite books of all time. I highly recommend both.

    [January] What's got you listening?

I'm currently listening to the New Bruce Springsteen album on the CBS website. I love Bruce, but this album is not as good as his last one. Tom Morello gives it a nice edge and I like the new version of The Ghost of Tom Joad, but most of the songs are weaker than almost anything on Wrecking...

    [January] What are you reading?

I'm reading The Son by Philipp Meyer. It reads as if Cormac McCarthy wrote James Michener. In other words, it's excellent and I look forward to getting back to the book as soon as I have to put it down. No book has made me feel this way in quite some time. On a slightly related note, I've...

    IN REMEMBRANCE--2013

Damn. Billy Jack has a special place in my childhood. He really was my first action star and was a gateway to such stars as Bruce Lee and Chuck Norris. RIP Tom Laughlin.

D&D 5E About to Fill Out the Final Survey - Advocate Your Answers Here!

I asked for some consideration toward 1e/2e style multi-classing and alternate magic systems. I also added my hope that humans would be reworked.

    Hero Pack 5

Has anyone purchased Hero Pack 5? If so, what did you think of it? Thanks.

Just one MMO or a stable of them?

I'm currently investing my time in Star Wars and Champions Online. I dabbled in Neverwinter, but did not find it to my liking. I usually will play 1 or 2 until I get bored and then move on to another.

And this just might be my first house rule. I really like this idea.

    Character Sheet Feedback

By the way,Jeff, I spent a year at Kentridge HS back in my youth. Did you go to HS in Kent?

    Character Sheet Feedback

I love your sheet, Jeff, but is there any way to make if Form-Fillable? That would be a true boon to all of us with extremely sloppy handwriting.

D&D 5E Changes with Equipment, Weapons, Armor.

Perhaps a quick way to balance out the weapons would be to increase the crit range of the swords to 19-20...or is that a can of worms best left unopened?

    Lone Ranger

It was fun, but more of a self-parody than I would have liked. I laughed, but inside I was crying.

    D&D 5E Two things I like about D&DNext

Looks like skill dice are gone, sadly. The players in Mearls' game all had a flat +10 bonus on skill checks.

    D&D 5E Two things I like about D&DNext

    1) Quick Combat - I love how fluid, fast, and fun combat has become. Having come from a high(er) level Pathfinder game, Next is very refreshing in this regard. 2) Easy Introduction - Taught the game to multiple people who had never played D&D before and they picked it up pretty easily. Made...

    Aces & Eights - Gamerstable Ep108

Is this game still in print? I checked Amazon and they are only re-selling for upwards to 80 dollars. Nothing that I could find on E-Bay. Where does one get this game?

D&D 5E D&D Next will be my next.

DnDNExt is my current game and will remain my current game. I've not had this much fun since 2nd edition. It's fast, easy, and flexible and all my players love it. We never liked 4th ed and I cannot imagine going back to the unnecessary complexity that is Pathfinder.

    [April] What are you reading?

Would The Saxon Stories be a good starting point for Bernard Cornwall, or would you suggest another of his books?

D&D 5E White Plume Mountain - The Weapons

That sounds very much how my game went. They followed the same path as your players, but took a look at the river room and decided to go south, hitting the ziggurat. The ziggurat fight for my team went very easily. They killed all the creatures except the crawfish, whom they bypassed. That...
