Most spells available at first level?

I think it's best to keep the change of spells over levels to numerical effects only. So fire blast is always single target, but goes up in damage and range as you up the slot Chain Lightning increases in damage, and possibly the number of links in the chain. Nothing goes from single target...

What would you like to see happen with FR?

They can continue writing for the pre-plague world WITHOUT retconning the spellplague. There's 100 years there to work with. Janaxstrus is asking for it to be retconned.

What would you like to see happen with FR?

Your "unbroken" realms still exists. And it has 100 years before the spellplague in which to finish everything up. So, YAY FOR YOU! I mean, sure, your unbroken realms are after the time of troubles, so they're obviously completely terrible... But heh, you like them then, some people like them...

    D&D 5E Levels and Spell Levels - what's your preference for 5E?

Changing the names has no downsides I can see, and makes it easier to see why you can be a 5th level character, who's a 3rd level wizard, but only have access to 2nd level spells. The traditional version has a big advantage in allowing powers to be shared between classes, but become accessible...

would someone explain star pack to me

Many of the stars that twinkle in the sky of Nerath are fragments of the far realms, maddening creatures that could consume the whole world with a single gulp. Stars in D&D are not fusion-powered gasballs, they're... things. Some may be angels, some just points of light, but others are strange...

PO: Heroes of the Elemental Chaos: Elemental Translation (p.95)) in need of errata?

If the target can be pushed, it's space isn't excluded. So, if you could choose not to push them (which is clearly not the intention, although the rules seem somewhat unclear) not only would they be surrounded by blocking terrain, their space would be filled with it. Meaning you could encase...

Scaling: How many level 1 characters should it take to defeat a level 10 character?

Assuming that both sides have equal amount of planning time, funds, etc. And once you've got them captured, killing them isn't significantly more difficulty, so either.

Scaling: How many level 1 characters should it take to defeat a level 10 character?

I think outnumbering should matter a lot, if not dealt with properly. Ie. a massive penalty if you're surrounded (or have four corners/sides under attack in the grid-system) but not necessarily a penalty just for being attacked multiple times (as some systems have) So you can deal with massive...

Scaling: How many level 1 characters should it take to defeat a level 10 character?

DDN is supposedly flattening the power growth of PCs, so that you don't get as much +to hit, defence, damage or hp as you have in earlier editions. The question is, what do you want the end result to be in terms of scaling: How big a difference between level 1 and level 10? Between levels 11...

    L&L Turning & Churning

It's not a good reason to make it unavailable. It's not even a good reason why it shouldn't be the default. It is, however, a good reason why you should be able to trade it out for another equally valuable feature.

    Constitution and HP

If you add in level 0 for each class, so that "double HP at first level" is because 1st level is actually two levels*, it works fine. *or, my preference, 3 apprentice levels before the default starting level. Otherwise, you can't do it without making level 1 too undifferentiated to be fun for...

D&D 5E How Should Dragons Be Handled In 5e

My favourite encounters with flying dragons have always been in areas with high walls, or pillars, or similar. In one, I climbed up a pillar, then jump-charged the dragon from the pillar, drawing my weapon during the jump. I intended to knock it to the ground, but I missed, and ended up clawing...

    Level Titles

I think you're misreading; "Necro" is connected to death. "Negro", or more accurately, "Nigrum", is black. Thus, black magic would be Nigrumancy, not Necromancy. edit:Or in other words, what KaiiLurker said

D&D 5E Please Cap the Ability Scores in 5E

Soft caps are good. But you don't get a good soft cap by having lots of +1s all over the place. A good soft cap comes from things like point-buy stats, and having things that provide bonus points. Or items that only boost your strength if it's below a certain amount (ie. gloves of hercules...

D&D 5E How Should Dragons Be Handled In 5e

No spell lists. I don't want to need the PHB as well as the monster manual to run a dragon. If the dragon's get spell-like abilities: Write out what they do.

    L&L Turning & Churning

The problem with it as written is the amount of statblock space it takes up for 1 class, that probably isn't even in your party. Oh, and the fact there's no way to allow you to turn things other than undead.

Changing the Duration of a Rest

In my experience, people seem to either use a single adventure path (at which point the Extended Rest time is constant throughout) or they actually put in some amount of effort to customising the adventure to fit their campaign (at which point they can speed up, or slow down, the pace for many...

    Constitution and HP

Yeah, I forgot an option for "Constitution doesn't affect HP". Technically it falls under the middle (constant effect, 0 is a constant :p) but it's not really the same thing.

Changing the Duration of a Rest

It's something that should have been done in 4e from the very beginning. Many people houseruled it that way, and it just plain works; but if there is a sidebar mentioning the possibility anywhere, I've missed it. My preference is for the rules for extended rest, in the PHB, to simply say: "You...

    Constitution and HP

If you max the HD at 1st level this actually works out to a constant effect. Which for various reasons is my preferred state.
