D&D General Yoga & trivia profs?

I can't take credit for these, but unfortunately, I do not know to whom credit should go. Trivia Wis -1 A PC with this non-weapon proficiency has picked up bits of knowledge of various topics from friends, family or personal experience. If the DM questions whether the PC would actually know...

    D&D 2E Returning to 2nd Edition

I dropped 3.5/Pathfinder RPG/d20 back in 2012. I got tired of there being a rule for every little thing, with more and more of those types of rules constantly being added with every new book that was released. Back in 2000 when 3rd edition came out, I made the switch from 2nd edition, and I...

    Home Made D&D Edition

I currently run AD&D games. And Wizards in AD&D are allowed: dagger, staff, darts, knives, and slings. Non-Weapon Proficiencies are not a: Have Them=Allowed To Use Them Don't Have Them=Not Allowed To Use Them (there were a few exceptions). All characters could do things listed as non-weapon...

    Home Made D&D Edition

I agree with your response, but just a minor nit-pick; one has to roll high for saving throws in 1st and 2nd edition... I'm curious. How did those mages get better to hit than a fighter? Did your tables only use straight rolls down the line (instead of, for example, roll 3d6 six times and...

    Home Made D&D Edition

I have to disagree with this. I went back to running 2nd Edition AD&D a tad before 5th edition was first announced. And 2nd edition (just like 1st edition before it) has separate XP tables for each of the various classes (even among classes within the same "class group" - e.g. fighter's and...

thief abilities: should they have been NWPs?

2nd Edition AD&D did use the proficiency system for thieving skills at one point. Thief skills as proficiencies were in the Ravenloft setting of "Masque of the Red Death".

Olleth [FR]: anybody ever locate it?

The 2nd Edition AD&D Forgotten Realms supplement "Sea of Fallen Stars" has a map of Seros, and gives a location of Olleth, though it does not provide a map of the city. It's location BTW, is just east off the coast of Turmish.

    Fighting Styles from CFH

Wow, 286 computers... I have not heard those referenced in... Well, a really really long time. Now I feel really old! :p Anyway... If you ever get the opportunity to get any of those old Al-Qadim boxed adventures, you should grab them - good stuff.

    Worth having?

Yeah, the Premium Re-print of the Monstrous Compendium is well worth spending the extra money (IMO), especially if you are currently playing 2nd edition AD&D...

    Fighting Styles from CFH

No, Al-Qadim was for standard level play (Just like the rest of the Forgotten Realms). Perhaps you are thinking of Dark Sun, in which it was recommended that characters start at 3rd level?

    Fighting Styles from CFH

As far as I know, there were never any modules or other products that specifically used the rules from any of the various "Complete Handbooks"... Perhaps with the exception of the Al-Qadim setting, which might have used rules from the "Complete Sha'ir's Handbook". I do however, know that the...
