I disagree. I have 512 MB and can't think of any apps that would cause massive slowdown, unless they're 1) graphic intensive (3D games - which I don't play), 2) using large databases (but there are other issues like disk defragmentation or poorly written interface).

Many of the monsters are redundant, especially with animals, elementals, golems etc. There are only so many animal forms you can think of, after all.

What about a netbook (or just a doc file) with all monsters in the same format? There are also a couple of typos that need spellchecking, and plural forms used with singular nouns and vice versa.

Before you buy a scanner, check if you already have a digital camera that can do the job with much less hassle (3 mpix is usually enough to photograph A4 pages). You can even photograph thick books, if another person is helping you (or if you don't care too much about quality).
