WW has already noted in press releases that the new World of Darkness will feature an updated Storyteller system.

The Necronomicon does not cause insanity.

You must understand that Lovecraft himself never read the Necronomicom. He merely had a description of it in his father's papers, who himself only briefly saw a copy a high-level meeting of the Ancient Rite of Mizraim & Memphis. The CoC stats are more accurate than Lovercaft's story in most...

What do I call followers of Nerull? Rat bastards, mostly.

How Do You Divide Up The Plunder?

In all the groups I've played in magic and non-magic have always been handled separately. Non-magic (i.e. GPs in various forms) has usually been split evenly, occasionally held in common. Magic has always been either given to the one person that can use the item in question, given to the...

    [OT/Humor] What's your "Holy Grail"?

MST3K: "Master Ninja Theme Song! Boom-chicka-boom-chicka-boom-chicka!" Also I have developed a habit, based upon an Old Man Murray article, of announcing a session's Start To Crate rating. PCs find a treasure chest, I glance up at the clock "Hmm. Start to crate one hour forty minutes...

    Castle Greyhawk?

It will probably be called "Castle Zagig". According to the Troll Lords website, if the Troll Lords produce rules to his liking, Gary said he would write it up for the Castles & Crusades project.

Impressions of the classes so far

These sorts of discussions have been going on since probably at least 1975, when the thief was added in Supplement I: Greyhawk. Heck, many a day I think the seven classes from the '81 Basic/Expert set would do just fine for most purposes. That being said, if specialty mages exist in the rules...

    but it worked!!

I ran "rescue princess from dragon" to great effect once. Three keys to making it work: 1) The dragon needs to be tough enough to whomp the party in a stand-up fight BUT 2) It needs to be weak enough that a good attack plan MIGHT work against it 3) Make it possible, but not easy, to...

Impressions of the classes so far

Well Ranger and Paladin come with their own baggage of assumptions and alignments. Spellsword, Bladesinger & Veteran Wizard I am unfamiliar with. I certainly am aware of the existence of multiclassing rules. I didn't say the kind of characters I like were impossible, I am merely celebrating...

Impressions of the classes so far

Frankly, I don't know if the Unfettered or Mageblade are underpowered or not, but they sure as heck strike me as the exact kind of classes I have always wanted to play in D&D. If getting exactly the kind of classes I wanted means playing second fiddle to Warmains and Magisters, so be it. After...

Meeting EN Worlders in Real Life--Central Ilinois

I'll second Pogue on this one. The Game Room in Washington is a nifty little store and the folks who run it are first rate, if you can stand the tobacco cloud.

    BESM D20 -- what's right about it?

I like BESM d20. If I hadn't gotten the Arcana Unearthed bug I'd probably already be running a game for it. I may use it in the future for S. John Ross' excellent Uresia setting. I would definitely take a look at products that use its SRD. At the moment I feel no need to create such a...

As a DM, how open are you to allowing in or using d20 material?

I selected Other. My first campaign used the core rules only. The new campaign I am working on is primarily Arcana Unearthed with some material from Bastion Press (Minions, Torn Asunder, possibly Airships). I may use some stuff from BESM d20 as well.

    Bastion's Airships: Hot Air Balloon?

Does anyone know if Bastion Press's sourcebook Airships can be used for simple hot air balloons? I've wanted to use a balloon in a fantasy game ever since I played Ultima IV in the good ol' days.
