Do your players have power cards printed out? That can help a ton if people don't know the rules yet.

I had too many games in 3E become somewhat less fun for me to DM because of either overly generous point buy. The last time I allowed rolling dice for stats was with one ridiculously broken character from die rolls.

Man, yeah, I hate it when DM's write backstories like "My entire village was wiped out by monsters, and I alone escaped and plotted revenge and became a hero." Yeah, that never happens in playing D&D. Ever. No human ever escaped a marauding orc horde and lived for vengeance. What's wrong...

Personally in tabletop games, I'm alright with music, although I don't use it as a DM -- too distracting for me. Other DMs using it are fine with me, and it can be used to good effect. Sound effects... eh, this would turn me off. Creepy ambient music, yes. Direct sound effects... not for me...

Pardon the threadjack -- but if that guy is no one in the group's friend, just find a new player altogether.

I like elves... although in 3E terms, I sort of wish they were a high level adjustment race. Like how the drow are level 11+ foes in 4E. Just do that w/ elves. But, people want to play them, so they had to balance them out...

Why not just use the 3E material for this? The amount of money isn't tremendously out of line w/ 4E. (And it's going to have more internal consistency, although you still have insanity like a cart costing 15g.)

Just lift the system from Call of Cthlulhu completely. Use wis x5 instead of will x5 for max sanity.

I say just post it (stuff posted here is public anyway,) and if they object take it down. Then you don't have to go back and forth. I can't imagine who would object anyway.

I would rule yes. Allowing blast 4 and blast 5 for the cost of a feat isn't overpowering.

What level is the party? If the party is also level 20 (somehow I doubt this...) you could try adding the dragon's exp in enemies every fight. Alternatively, the dragon could grow restless after a short time, and long for the coastline to build a lair, per their MM entry. You could even have...

Got a str-based pally in my group now. Seems to be enjoying it well enough though, and the damage is good... although he's a minotaur, and one-handing the greataxe does help a bit on that front.
