Playing an epic arcanist mean rolling a truckload of dices. While fun, it tend to slow down gameplay. Since I often Maximize and Empower my spells, my DM came up with a quick solution: you take the Maximized damage and multiply it by 1.25. 1.25 represent an average roll of 50% of the dices...

In theory, you can do pretty much whaever you want. But you'll need to research it, spend a truckload of XP and money. All of this for having a chance of casting a spell. Not worth it. I prefer Trainz's variant.

With stats like that, it would make a pretty good warmage :) I agreee that as a fighter it would be a bit weak. Well, it would be weak against nearly any other no-LA class of the same level.

Look at this: http://www.enworld.org/showthread.php?t=98967. I play in his campaign and I must say that this is an elegant solution. It is quick and it feels epic. My warmage has the Energy Shape... Quite useful with a Maximized, Empowered Meteor Swarm :)

There is also a shield in a Complete book (sorry, don't remember which one) that gives more AC when fighting only one foe.

Hi fett. I'm currently playing an epic warmage (26) and it has been a blast (haha, get it?). I started at level 9 so some of what I say won't apply for now. A few tips... Get a mithral chainmail. Light armor. Mobility is your friend. Use a buckler. You can still cast spells with a buckler...

Maximized + Empowered + Energy Admixted Orb of X. This is my main form of attack. Damage of 243 for a level 8 slot. Not too bad :) But I should mention that I'm playing a level 26 warmage...

No because they both provide the same kind of bonus.

There is also the % method like in Wharhammer.

Do you consider wizards to be broken ? By that logic fighters are also broken since they can only fight.
