    PHB2 Classes simply better?

You're missing the distinction. The fighter can lay a mark on from range, the warden cannot. And if either can get close, the fighter can punish that enemy for attacking someone else[CC on shift] and the Warden cannot. There is nothing wrong with Chaladin's either[they are easily on par as...

    Broken Ranger with Barbarian MC

Actually its 20, was a typo. 16+1 at 4 + 1 at 8 + 1 at 11 +1 at 2 = 20. 22 isn't that impressive and it would make my attack go up 1 but the listed damage go down 2[con would have to drop and/or wisdom would have to drop] Either way, he isn't breaking any records with his Ranger and if i was...

    Broken Ranger with Barbarian MC

Consider that I have a level 12 Fighter who could be hitting for 28.5 dmg/hit @ +18 to hit [Waraxe, Iron Arm Bands, 22 str, dwarven weapon training, +3 weapon, marked scourge@ +6, that at will from martial power that adds +con to dmg for another +3], compared to your ranger at 35dmg/hit at +17...

    Longsword finesse, wait wuh?!

No, I did. My crit damage expression for the 2.1 was 3d6 @ paragon, or +10.5 damage or +1.05 avg/dmg swing of the 2.1 dmg/swing bonus from the extra crit. Its a full half of the bonus average damage you gain from the property change. With a vicious weapon that is +1.9 dmg/swing upping your...

Can a dead character be healed by RAW? (Forked Thread: Bloodied vs. Dying)

You can indeed heal them. The trick is, the only thing that stops a dead character from being dead is the raise dead ritual, so yea, they can take healing and use all the surges they want. They're just still dead.

Visions of Avarice trivializes melee encounters?

Sometimes yes, sometimes no. Remember its often harder to pull when things get in the way of the "each square must be one closer"

    Longsword finesse, wait wuh?!

    Not that dramatically. 18-20 crit instead of a 20 crit is +.1 x crit dmg -.1 reg damage So on a 2[w] attack you're adding 8+dex+18+3d? x .1 and subtracting .1 x 5 +dex + 10.5 Or you could just write it like this .1 x (max-avg+crit die) or for a 2[w] attack you're looking at an extra 2.1...

Visions of Avarice trivializes melee encounters?

For most smart DM's this is not going to immobilize many creatures. Remember, it has a cap of 9 and the pull rules will often mean that you are unable to get a target you want to that area. Give your melee enemies some backup ranged attacks and your artillery some effects that imposing the...

    Non-combat uses for martial powers

Chameleon is an immediate power and so cannot be used on your turn. So that does not work. If you move into the house when the door is opened you're either attempting to use two immediate actions[one interrupt from chameleon and one reaction from your ready] or its on your turn and you're unable...

    Longsword finesse, wait wuh?!

Daggermaster is good, but the low damage die on the weapon does mean that its not explicitly better than the higher W with a slightly lower attack. Especially since its only 1 feat to get most of the high crit bonus that makes the daggermaster really good. But is it good enough to turn the...

    Rod of Reaving Broken?

A lot of it comes from the fact that some of the original mm1 minions are poorly designed. They either don't do enough damage, have no special ability that makes them a pain, or have no special effects, and are melee creatures. The crux of the issue is this, the marginal benefit of attacking...

what do you do when a +3 bloodclaw weapon is more powerful than a +4 artifact

Their opportunity cost is terribly low, its why they're so good. Its effectively something for nothing, when all the other options have very high opportunity costs.

what do you do when a +3 bloodclaw weapon is more powerful than a +4 artifact

So long as the item is their level or lower AND they have the cash to pay for it Its been my experience that the majority of gold players have is spent shoring up item slots they don't have filled with lower level items and buying rituals. You only have enough gold to buy each character 1...

What's so special about Forgotten Realms?

Probably. I am certainly having a ball with a FR game that I am currently playing in.[set after the shakeup]. But i don't know much about the realms except that its a very high fantasy setting where the gods like to take an active role in things. I don't typically like the concepts of dungeons...

what do you do when a +3 bloodclaw weapon is more powerful than a +4 artifact

This is a great house rule, though i would except "simple +" weapons. Especially to foster a "low magic" feeling. As each item becomes unique the instant it enters play each item starts to hold more value to the players.

    Combat Challenge and Oppurtunity Attacks

This is especially potent in combination with halfling charisma rogues providing your DM is good about not using meta knowledge. Halfling Charisma Rogues with defensive mobility will typically stack up a +8->10 bonus against OA's before the fighters mark, which is, at paragon tier another -3...

I am not familiar with what a stormwarden does, you take damage if you enter a square next to it? Seriously?

    Entering a Zone

No, but he was not arguing in that manner, i was explaining that the complaint is unfounded because they are still extraordinarily strong. For the most part it would be much too easy to ignore them in that case. Falling prone at the edge of the zone isn't much of a consolation prize really...

    Entering a Zone

A wall of fire spell creates a wall of fire, which is a wall of fire. A sleep spell makes you unconscious, the name is not important, the effect is. Just as "that its a spell or power" is not important, as anything can be defined as a spell or power, what is important is the effect. The...
