Gen Con Takes Stand For Inclusiveness

Probably. If the clergyperson (see what I did there?) is acting as part of the religious group and only offers services to members of that religion, and that religion has strict rules about who can belong, and is not otherwise open to the public, then that person can legally restrict their...

3rd-Party Apps for 5E Rising From The Dead!

I'm glad to hear that pathguy has been given some leeway to bring his character builder back online, but I think the restriction to the basic rules serves to underline the point that a chargen program is really only useful if it contains all of the material available. I wish wizards would be...

7 Years of D&D Stories? And a "Big Reveal" Coming?

You think Perkins is working on a detailed business plan? He said he is working on storylines. I have no inside knowledge, but I assume that this is done so that Wizards can coordinate with their partners that need longer lead times for video games, miniatures, etc.

At Least 4 Months For Conversion Documents

Of course they are responsible for what they say, but there on some here that want to make them responsible for much, much more than what they've said on their personal accounts. I'm specifically responding to the idea that Mearls is doing a terrible job at PR. I don't think it's fair to look at...

At Least 4 Months For Conversion Documents

I'm nitpicking a bit, but the "instead" in this sentence is the problem I was pointing out. We *want* the designers to be open and engage with the community on Twitter and other social media. If you also want more direct communication from Wizards about product plans, feel free to ask for it...

At Least 4 Months For Conversion Documents

Thanks for bringing some reason back to this thread. I really don't get the people all upset over Mearls "handling of PR" when he's just making some comments to people on Twitter. If everyone gets all bent out of shape because 140 characters on a personal account wasn't enough to properly...

[UPDATED] Check Out These PRINCES OF THE APOCALYPSE Maps!

We played the first session at Adventurer's League last night and I'm happy with the direction. We're not far enough along to offer a real review yet, but it started off great. Also, I bought the maps before they were pulled and they are great.

At Least 4 Months For Conversion Documents

What I'd like to see in the conversion guide are guidelines for adjusting challenges (monsters, NPCs, traps, skill challenges, etc.) from modules produced for previous editions. I don't really have a desire for guidelines to convert PCs over. What I want is to use old modules with brand new 5e...

    D&D 5E Are hardback AP's a waste?

We are talking about Tyranny of Dragons specifically. Delricho and I are suggesting that producing a single book for that AP would be more profitable than splitting the same content into two books and selling them separately. If you look at Elemental Evil, it follows that producing a single book...

D&D 5E Convince me to Spend the Money

I'm starting to feel bad that everyone even tried to be helpful.

    D&D 5E Are hardback AP's a waste?

:) I was responding to your statement directly. Why do you think Wizards thinks that? So while I agree with your assessment that 1 bigger book is more profitable than 2 smaller books, I strongly suspect that Wizards made PotA a single book because they had the time. As long as we're talking...

D&D 5E Convince me to Spend the Money

They certainly aren't "just as" threatening. The idea is that in previous editions, AC and HP quickly ran away from the ability of lower level creatures to make any kind of threat. If your AC is 25 and the kobold has a +4 to hit, they will never, ever hit you. A high-level PC could wade through...

D&D 5E Convince me to Spend the Money

My advice is to spend $12 on the Starter Set and play the included adventure. If you like it, and your group likes it, then your decision is clear. If you don't find it to be your cup of tea, then you're only out $12.

    D&D 5E Are hardback AP's a waste?

    Why do you think that?

D&D 5E Factions in Elemental Evil

I like the idea of factions with side quests, secret missions, player-specific challenges they can meet while still working towards the party goals… lots to like about it, really. The implementation is really dependent on the DM to make it work and guide the players.

    D&D 5E Are hardback AP's a waste?

I suspect you're overestimating how much case binding adds to the cost. At the quantities Wizards is dealing with, the case bound book probably costs $1.50 (US) more to print than a perfect bound softcover. It might be less. Considering the market for D&D, I don't think Wizards would see any...

D&D 5E How do you decide which Races to disallow (and/or Classes)?

What I've taken away from the thread is that no one likes a jerk at their table, either player or DM. Sometimes DMs get caught up in their pet concept for what their campaign world should be, and sometimes players get caught up in their pet concept for what their character should be. That is...

D&D 5E How do you decide which Races to disallow (and/or Classes)?

I think it's interesting that DMs have such strong views about the player options that should or should not be allowed in their game. ;) I couldn't help poking fun a bit by turning the tables on you. Sorry, but it was just sitting there… Using your analogy, I think it's OK for the player to...

D&D 5E How do you decide which Races to disallow (and/or Classes)?

I suppose I was, but only indirectly. I don't care for the attitude of "my way or the highway" from the DM that sometimes crops up in these types of threads (not accusing you specifically). I think it's fine to make choices or create limitations, but I also think the DM should always leave room...

D&D 5E How do you decide which Races to disallow (and/or Classes)?

I'm going to try and reply carefully here because it feels like you reacted to my comments personally and decided to mock me with sarcasm perhaps because you were offended in some way. I get it because my comment came right after yours, but that's just coincidence. I was just adding my opinion...
