    D&D 4E 4e Constitution - what a waste of time !

Then I certainly hope they've been playing their characters as having the sub-average intelligence they've assigned them. Personaly, I can't dump Int with any character, no mater what their prime abilities need to be. I just wouldn't have fun playing "dumb". Well.. okay, that's not entirely...

    beastmaste rangers attks question

This one bothers me, too. It's as if, as soon as combat starts, your Ranger and their Companion are suddenly running on a slow processor. "Oops, I have an hourglass while the processor handles the other one, please wait."

The Problem of Balance (and how to get rid of it)

Yes! Yes.. Exactly! Yes. Okay.. Now you just proved you aren't paying attention to point the other side is trying to make at all. Because then NObody gets to play Superman or Batman.

    A Shaman Retrospective

Ah, okay. Huh.. Favored Soul was even in Complete Divine. That was the Cleric-by-way-of-Sorcerer, right?

    A Shaman Retrospective

Should I just assume this is yet another of those online "rpgs" that I've downloaded, installed, tried for a day or two, and then uninstalled because they wanted real money for any decent-looking races or clothing, the control interface was awkward at best or often uncontrollable at worst, and...

    Roles - do they work?

    I agree completely.

    D&D 4E Firearms in 4E

I like the rationale with the cantrip-powered mystech firearms, but I still hope I never see fighters carrying jacketed rounds in my D&D fantasy. If we ever really get firearms back in the game, I wonder if we'll get the Final Fantasy style Gunblades like we got in that 3E dragon article.

    Roles - do they work?

I think "Power Source" is almost meaningless as a "choice" in character build. It's nothing to form a foundation on, and it's just a terminology basket when doing power write-ups. But it's an empty tag in the game mechanics. Roles are a bit more concrete, in that they really do alter function...

    D&D 4E Firearms in 4E

Nock > draw > release is just a a quick thing that's basicaly one fluid motion. It's easy for people to imagine that happening very fast. Powder ( and fuss with the cork..) > bullet > ramrod > tamptamptamp > re-stow ramrod > cock is um.. One can't really picture that quickly. Especialy when...

    A Shaman Retrospective

No. No I didn't. I have my limits. :) I did go back and update the first post in the thread with the other 2E classes, however, after reading up on them. The Spells & Magic Shaman really IS particularly interesting. If you want to do a write-up for the third-party materials, by all means go...

    A Shaman Retrospective

wow.. 2E had shaman iterations coming out of its ears.

    Roles - do they work?

I play a wizard because the wizard has the magic, the spellbook, the rituals, and most importantly, the cantrips. THAT is the flavor I want. Not the warlock's flavor, nor the sorcerer's lack of a flavor. But it's bogged down in area effects that stop you from being anything but a controller, and...

    A Shaman Retrospective

Yeah. And in pre-Gazeteer BECMI, as well. But players didn't have access to them or anything. Not really classes or anything. Just monster variants.

The Problem of Balance (and how to get rid of it)

Okay, well.. I'll just go with one of my favorits here. Class/Feat features that brought about subsidiary entities. Familiars, Animal Companions, Bonded Mounts, Spirit Guides, Cohorts, etc.. I've always really loved those aspects, and 4E as an example tossed them out the window initialy, because...

    A Shaman Retrospective

I had no idea about the book. I'm going to look for it, though. My DM was just telling me about it after he read this as well. It was one of two odd class books that came out, that weren't part of the usual brown-covered Player's Reference books of the time. The other class book that came out...

The Problem of Balance (and how to get rid of it)

That... only makes someone higher in level than others. The problem people are speaking of with balance is that, more and more, it keeps forcing the mechanics to get in the way of the flavor.

    Roles - do they work?

I don't like it when certain classes are forced into certain roles. I have always liked loved bards, and I like shamans, for instance.. But I'm finding myself worried because I have not liked the look of playing Leader characters, from what I've seen of them with our Party's characters thus...

The Problem of Balance (and how to get rid of it)

Hmm.. I've been getting tired of "balance" getting in the way of flavor and character concept, myself, for some time now. It used to be, if you had the shape of something in your mind, you could scrape together the pieces to make it work. Now "what works" seems to have become very very...

    [ALLURIA PUBLISHING] Alluria Overhuals Products

Well.. Last week, I thought Remarkable Races was, frankly, the coolest thing I'd seen for 4E. And I really loved the Entobians. And...now I'm ready to give up on the whole thing. Firstly, I'd like to appologise, because I'm going to pick things appart quite a bit in a big reply...
