    Readied Actions and Timing

Man, was tonight's game a mess! Anyway .. let me get past my lousy mood to ask a question that came up LOUDLY in the session: PC Fighter: Initiative Bonus +6, Current Initiative 22 Monster: Initiative Bonus +4, Current Initiative 10 (Round 1) Monster has readied action: if anyone shows their...

    Casting Through Anti-Magic?

Re: Clarification? I realize that it is being discussed here, but I always felt that it goes without saying that while in the field you cannot even begin to cast a spell. Like I said earlier, the group has NO problem killing beholders. In the case they are in, 2 beholders are using their...

    Casting Through Anti-Magic?

Here's what I decided for my group (since they're currently IN this situation): - If a spell is cast through the Antimagic Field that has no duration (magic missile, fireball, etc) then it fails. - If the spell does have a duration, that duration starts immediately, but the spell has no...

    Casting Through Anti-Magic?

I have to disagree here .. it's a wholly magical effect, so once it hits the antimagic field .. if it winks out then it is gone. The only way it could come back is if eventually the beholder closes its eye .. and then the spell would pick up where it left off .. but I'm still thinking the spell...

    Casting Through Anti-Magic?

My feeling on spells like Magic Missile and Fireball .. that are "missiles" .. was that they wouldn't work. I also ruled that the summon spell wouldn't work, but we had to end mid-combat and I promised to ask here. ControlFreak

    Casting Through Anti-Magic?

This question came up in my game the other night: If a spell does not specifically say that it follows a "path" to its destination, can it be cast through an antimagic field? For example, a Beholder has it's eye open and is covering the hallway where the pc's are. The group has put an item...

    Beholder's combat

My party is in the middle of an encounter with a Beholder (we had to stop for the night halfway through). So far the Beholder has only done peripheral damage to the group (used its antimagic cone to turn off some Winged Boots over a boiling volcanic stream :D. Once the group found their way...

    Beholder's combat

I've always played it that the beholder can only aim ALL of its eyes up, and can't aim it's body to make that another direction. Otherwise you are correct, 3 eyes in any one direction. CF

    Underwater Flying [2006 Thread]

Ok, Winged Boots work underwater ... no problem ... Now what about currents? Swiftly flowing river ... PC is underwater wearing the boots ... swim roll is useless since he couldn't make it with a 20 (skill -17 because of weight) ... how do I figure that out? CF

    Ioun Stone Questions

Re: Re: Ioun Stone Questions Hang on a second ... I asked this same question a month ago and got the exact opposite answer! And that answer was that the Ioun Stones need to make their own saves for a fireball .. that's the disadvantage of using them. CF

Do INT items give more skills?

I hate to do this, but can anyone give me the source of this ruling? I can't find it anywhere including the Official FAQ. Thanks, CF

Do INT items give more skills?

The characters in my game created 12th level chars with the DMG-listed 88kgp of goods. I'm telling the wizard that he should consider that he has gotten the headband since achieving 12th level. When he gets to 13th level I'll let him use the addition +1 INT bonus in assigning skill points. When...

Do INT items give more skills?

If a character puts on a Headband of Intellect (+2 INT), does that character get to spend additionnal points for every level at that point? If not, do they get to add additional skill points starting at the level they got the headband? Thanks in advance CF
