    D&D 5E Stealth & that big Rock!

So how does a Rogue ever get to sneak attack? Taking that strict interpretation would suggest that a Rogue could never be hidden and sneak attack unless able to attack through full cover or while fully obscured. Obviously the feature is meant to be reasonably useful, so something more much be...

    D&D 5E Stealth & that big Rock!

There seems to be some confusion in language in this thread. Sure, if someone is hidden but then fully emerges from their (appropriate) cover/concealment, they will generally be noticed. But most of the time, the Rogue will not fully emerge, but rather instead retain partial cover/concealment...

    D&D 5E Stealth & that big Rock!

Presumably the Rogue continually slips back around the cover, using a bonus action to Stealth, and resets the hidden status and does it repeatedly every round to get advantage on the attack (presuming stealth beats perception).

    D&D 5E Stealth & that big Rock!

How does is or out of combat matter under rules on this? If the PC is stealthed and hidden behind the rock, illusion or not, the PC can maintain partial cover behind the rock and target its foe, getting advantage on the attack (presuming stealth beat perception).

D&D 5E Can I use a Bonus Action Spell and a Wand in the same Turn?

IIRC, the DMG explicitly clarifies that Cunning Action can't be used to activate magic items as they are not activated by the Use an Item action (maybe some exceptions, have to check the book).

D&D 5E [GUIDE] My Word Is My Sword: The Paladin Guide

But even if most foes are doing 20dmg or less, if you take a couple of hits a round, each with 20% chance of failure, that Aura will go down fairly quickly, and you will have used a round to put it up instead of fighting. Aura seems like great 70hp distributed heal spell that takes 1 minute out...

D&D 5E [GUIDE] My Word Is My Sword: The Paladin Guide

I certainly have done no statistical analysis of the situation, just have looked at some creatures of interest in a reasonable CR to PCs with Paladin Level 9+ (to cast the Aura), and see things have average damage such as: Any Young Dragon does a lot of damage with its breath weapon (Green CR8...

D&D 5E [GUIDE] My Word Is My Sword: The Paladin Guide

A Paladin is likely only going to have around +5 to CON saves (+2 from CON, +3 from CHA bonus) for making concentration checks, but is likely to get hit regularly (high AC will mitigate some, but given the volume of attacks directed, some will still hit), triggering at a minimum DC 10...

D&D 5E Magic Initiate - A guide to an underestimated (and cool) feat

Personally I think it should be relatively not noticeable (other than perhaps when attacked/hit), because otherwise it just makes things seem a little overmagical for wizards to walk around through every backwater village with magic continually oozing out for all to see.

D&D 5E Magic Initiate - A guide to an underestimated (and cool) feat

How does no one notice? Nothing in the description says the mage armor effect is invisible. Sure, you might say nothing in the description says it "isn't" invisible either. But compared with Shield, another 1st level abjuration spell that provides a barrier of magic force to protect you...

D&D 5E Can sheathe the sword, cast one spell, and drow the sword WITH Interacting with Objects Around You ?

Exactly, that's how I run it. Otherwise it just looks ridiculous.

D&D 5E Feat at 1st Level: How To Go About It?

Another option might be to list the feats that you never see anyone take, and let everyone have a free one of those to start.

D&D 5E Feat at 1st Level: How To Go About It?

I haven't read past the first page, but since practically speaking hardly anyone gets to level 19-20, I have considered giving every PC their level 19 ABI much earlier, possibly first level, possibly second (to at least let the variant humans have the benefit of being the only ones to actually...

D&D 5E [GUIDE] My Word Is My Sword: The Paladin Guide

Many days you can run into foes with poison though. I am presently playing a 6th level Devotion Paladin, who already gets oath spells of Lesser Restoration and Zone of Truth, and there are limited second level spells of value otherwise. I take Aid, and you don't need Find Steed every day, so I...

D&D 5E [GUIDE] My Word Is My Sword: The Paladin Guide

I see no mention of the Magic Initiate feat, but it is a great way to get a ranged attack by picking Warlock and getting Eldritch Blast, plus take the once a day use of Hex for added damage.

D&D 5E [GUIDE] My Word Is My Sword: The Paladin Guide

"Protection from Poison: 1 action; V,S. With Lay on Hands in play, I can't really see preparing this one too often." Lay on Hands cures damage from poison or neutralizes a poison afterward, and takes an action to use. Protection from Poison will help you with saves and resistance on the front...

D&D 5E Ditching concentration - did you do it?

Haste was especially screwed by this edition, it only affects 1 target and is concentration. I get not wanting to have PCs sitting around casting it repeatedly (thus concentration), and I get not wanting to have a bunch of PCs affected by it (thus 1 target), but the combination of the two...

D&D 5E Magic Initiate - A guide to an underestimated (and cool) feat

I'm running a Paladin with Shield Master currently and strongly considering this Magic Initiative option at level 8, and figure Hex will work okay enough actually because one round 1 I am using the Channel Divinity action to charge my sword, and have a Bonus Action free then to still cast Hex...

D&D 5E Ditching concentration - did you do it?

Yeah, and a Paladin isn't proficient in CON saves, CON is not the primary ability score, and Paladins are in melee and thus getting hit often so triggering concentration checks, so I don't even bother with the smite spells (plus I have Shield Master which uses my Bonus Action anyway).

D&D 5E Magic Initiate - A guide to an underestimated (and cool) feat

Or a Paladin using Eldritch Blast, which is a CHA-based cantrip. As a Paladin, you can have a lot of CHA, but have NO cantrips and limited range options, so Eldritch Blast can be huge. Plus Hex works great for Paladins too.
