What treasure do you wish was in upcoming adventures?

I'd also second the flavor and unique / historical items over power driven / stat bumps. The death house launch items were very well done on the flavor side. Alternate familiars, mounts, shape changes, race options, access to odd (cross class) spells, henchmen, contacts, historical references...

    Necromancy and AL

This is still relative and is not (in many and my opinions and experiences) against the rules. I browsed through the rules and see nothing that covers "resources". Does a necromancer then have claim to bodies as treasure which are now assumed resources? Technically, only treasure listed at the...

    Necromancy and AL

I personally can't see that happening... This is really a "kosher" discussion. Sure people can eat pork but that they choose not to affects the "pork business" model. You can choose to sell pork but you can't make them buy it. What happens when a party of real people roleplay that they don't...

    Necromancy and AL

I am all for allowing players to expand various role bending play styles and concepts, however having one show up with 8+ additional 5 foot spaces of actions would even stress my open play patience. There are simply limits. For example; I had a player show up with a deck of cards and was doing...

First legal 3rd party AL material announced

As bad as it was at Gencon, Winter Fantasy was completely opposite. I was wondering will there be any season 4 material run at Origins?

I would hope from an NPC story side Strahd commands more than some low level skeletons... Does he pay well? And besides, they're all soul-less anyways...(the villagers that is)

    Necromancy and AL

I've seen 2 different instances with a player playing undead late in tier 2. Each time the judge was fairly liberal with their use and the party seemed fine with it. I'd recommend just keeping to one target, roll all of the dice together and use the average damage value. It will move pretty...

That player in the back of the room

How is it different if "over optimized" players show up and dominate combats and the other player(s) are not having fun. vs One or more players that are role playing <insert anyway> and the other player(s) are not having fun. This seems a bit hypocritical..?? The other players are stating that...

Exactly how important is it to start the game with a +3 ability score modifier?

This is really the meat of the discussion. Feats can be so powerful and work with such synergy, the +3 is sorta required. I think especially for open play or conventions; 3 and 4 person groups can be very difficult (you have to pull more than your own) and that extra +1 can really make a difference.

    I'm almost afraid to ask...

Kinda of NOT what the Players Handbook states: PHB pg 3 Playing D&D is an exercise in collaborative creation. You and your friends create epic stories filled with tension and memorable drama. You create silly in-jokes that make you laugh years later. The dice will be cruel to you, but you will...

    I'm almost afraid to ask...

This could be very fun... Take actor feat so you know all the sounds and you can get . Rituals can be cast by having the dolls all sit around in a circle. 1 level of Warlock would get you Hex for extra damage on VM. You can also play a doll as a visage of your patron.

    I'm almost afraid to ask...

Just have a doll with a fife - you can ventriloquist his playing it...the fife and doll can be it. It may make items difficult to find but how you're doing will be very difficult anyway. A doll casting vicious mockery could be very entertaining... You could even be creepier and make small...

    firm rulings

The PFS comment is very true...big adjustment coming from rules strict to rules light. On disarming; because it would technically be in the square of the disarm-ee, I would say it can be done as part of the one free object interaction. Likewise, the disarmer would have to use half their move...

    DDAL Racism and DDAL4-1 [Spoilers]

ah there it is...the progressive agenda: "You are wrong. I am right and because you cannot admit you are wrong, you are privileged and racist and the people in right must make you see it." you can see all of the steps. first- ask nicely to change how the offender thinks and perceives what you...

Have we failed to discourage min-maxing?

If the party tells their judge that they are more role play focused, the judge can run the adventure with limited combat and certainly allow other options. The minimum experience for play is quite high and most parties that get the full amount usually haven't killed enough for the xp listed...

Have we failed to discourage min-maxing?

It really shouldn't be that difficult. You simply assign xp for completion of the goal instead of combat. You get to the end...Y amount of xp. There can be multiple paths ; with varied combats or role play to avoid some. I don't like staged xp. It seems in AL, the minimum is always bigger than...

Have we failed to discourage min-maxing?

I've played this 3 times now and have run it once. yeah spoilers... The judges that ran it for me (including WF) emphasized that something is simply wrong. Each time, there was a concern that things weren't as forth right as they were presented. We role played a lot to try and understand...

    DDAL Racism and DDAL4-1 [Spoilers]

We ran lots of tables at a local Con this weekend. I played and ran AL all weekend (4-1,2 and 3). The common term Vistani is prevalent. It means the Ravenloft fantasy gypsies...I never saw any real world connection in any of the events. Most people that play and remember them originally as...

    D&D 5E "The" Lich?

I'm an Azalin fan - a phylactery that is a dragon head is pretty cool. Given that the Ravenloft comparison, he's probably best. Overall D&D, I'm kinda partial to Acererak - He went the cycle. Tomb of Horrors for the win.
