    a new D&d webcomic

Just found this thread and your strip. I must say it is great! I love the in game and out of game interaction in the strip. I can really relate to the banter. It feels very real. Your characters are not the caracatures of Knights of the Dinner Table, but are cool none the less. I can actually...

    Area and close attacks

Let's look at this another way. If instead of vulnerable to area and close attacks, the swarm had vulnerable to fire instead and the swarm was in a zone of fire would you only apply it once? No because the whole swarm is still affected by the zone of fire. This is the reasoning behind the...

Do you run or play in a Sandbox or Linear game

In my opinion, I don't think it's possible to run a completely linear game without taking away the players choices and ruining the fun. I have played with GMs who had a fit ant time you tried to do something that was not planned for. For example, I once played in a game that got completely...

What's the purpose of the 'elemental' keywords?

Let's not forget about resistances and vulnerabilities. Certain powers work vs. certain elememtal keywords to add or reduce damage. For instance "Resist fire 5" and "Vulnerable fire 5". From a DM standpoint, even in the absence of any published effects I could see this as an interesting way to...

Making Dual Strike a normal attack, not a power

So basically Dual Strike would be an extra at-will attack option for anyone willing to use two weapons? I don't see this as a game breaker just because most characters who would use it probably have better attacks anyway. But I think it would be a nice option for those times when you really need...

Refreshing Surges Con Mod per day instead of all

I think this would hurt defenders like the paladin who use their surges for things other than healing themselves. A paladin with a decent wisdom could potentially use more surges than say a fighter with the same number of surges. I would favor 1/4 your surges under less than ideal conditions...

    Alternatives to the Death Save

Here's my problem with this: The concept is interesting, but without being able to use powers, you are simply replacing the death save with two attack rolls. "I roll to hit. Darn. Missed. Oh good he missed me too." There is no real stategy beyond attacking because you can't use anything but...

Bards - What Makes them Good?

I think what makes the bard good is the versitility. You have so many options. You want ranged? You got it. You want melee? You got it. You want skills? You got it. And the multi-classing is the ultimate in versitility. You want more healing? There are several classes that would give you some...

Do you take powers without a build specific benefit?

I like to pick powers based on the character concept while still making a good character. In other words, I won't pick a totally lame power just because it fits my concept. But if a power looks cool and fits my concept, I may choose it even if it has a build rider that I can't use. This...

    when the marker is dying

I like this version. To me marks are all about being threatened by the defender so that you have to divide your attention. The -2 to attacks reflects that you aren't completely focused on your other opponents. You're still keeping a weather-eye out for the defender.
