    WOTC! Give us an update!

I have the first two Pathfinders and have definitely used elements from them, but I would really like to see more/better art and online PDF downloads of the maps like Dungeon used to have. Um, just in case any Paizo folks happen to be listening at this very moment. :) I've actually really...

D&D 4E My prediction for the hot new thing for 4e

I don't know if we'll see quite as many class books. In my experience, people "learned" over the course of 3rd edition not to use third-party rulebooks. If that's true of more people than just the folks I know, it might discourage a lot of rules-oriented products. Then again, maybe the fees for...

    D&D 4E Reinvisioning the Halfling for 4E

I think Traycor's ideas are very sound, and exactly what I hope to implement in my own games. Curly hair, worn ostentatiously, is a simple and effective art direction idea. Large heads and other features to show scale are also a very good idea. And the "pirate-y" look, with bandanas and such, is...

    Green Dragon

It looks silly, but that's because of the "smile," not because of the horn. The concept art it was based on looks solid enough. I thought it looked good in the picture above, until I saw the close-up of the miniature's face in this thread.

D&D 4E Opinions on the 4E preview books...

I do think it's a pretty ridiculous money grab, but I am a total preview whore. Of the two books, I would potentially recommend Worlds & Monsters to a normal DM fan trying to get ready for 4th edition. I suspect the information in Races & Classes is going to end up being more redundant.

"Points of Light" setting--to be developed?

The idea is to have a lot of loosely connected locations that could fit into any setting. I'm currently running a sort of 4e preview game in the "Points of Light setting," though, and it works surprisingly well. The information given in the preview books forms a nice framework, and I can use my...

How do you think creating NPC's will be handled

One of the great things about Star Wars Saga Edition, which I expect to be true of 4e, is that creating high-level PCs is pretty easy. The biggest barrier in 3e is skill points, which seem to be gone in 4e (replaced with Saga-style "trained" or "untrained" skills and level-based bonuses). You'll...

    1/2 elves lost their feyness

I think the idea is that half-elves have to be a bridge between the species, or that to navigate the challenges of being a half-member of whatever culture they grew up in, they have to be extra charming. It's a little narrow, perhaps, but it always made sense to me. This seems to be something...

    some PoL questions

Wow, a numbered list with one item. :) I don't see this as an issue at all. I just started a campaign with 1st level characters in a city where the highest-level character (that they could have possibly trained with) is 3rd or 4th. A 1st level character is better off than the average joe, but...

worlds and monsters is in my hands

Hey, if anyone's jumping into this thread looking for details from the book, skip the past three pages (if you have the 30 posts per page view). Not that the discussion isn't great, but it would be lovely to keep the focus on direct Q&A from people who have the book.

D&D 4E Should 4e martial artists have "monk" flavor?

Good point! I just did some research, and it turns out that the same reasoning applies to everyone in history who fought wars using magic. Apparently the stuff wasn't as great as fantasy novels make it out to be!

D&D 4E The New 4e Class Patterns and what is missing

I like the idea of a martial controller who leaves enemies demoralized and shaken. Kind of a reverse-warlord, if debuffs are built into the warlord class. Though they've already said they see the monk as a melee striker, I could see a monk performing a controller role. If you combine and expand...

    Races and Classes

R&C, within the book at least, does not promise to nail anything down. Clearly I did not get any indication from R&C that the Swordmage would be in the first PHB, just as I don't expect Warforged to be in it even though they were described there. they're just trying to preview possibilities and...

D&D 4E Should 4e martial artists have "monk" flavor?

About the only similarities is that they're ascetic, they live in monasteries, and they are usually presented as worshipping a "god" rather than a philosophy. When monks are treated as foreign or at least "alternative" to the dominant paradigm, I think they fit. But if 4e follows 3e's example...

D&D 4E Should 4e martial artists have "monk" flavor?

Good point. Sadly, I don't think I can edit the poll now. More options are always great, but there's still a way to answer the survey: Which would you want to see first? Or if they only did one, which would you want to see? BTW, I actually don't have a strong opinion about this, and I haven't...

D&D 4E Should 4e martial artists have "monk" flavor?

The nature of the D&D monk has always seemed a little odd to me. When people hear the word "monk," some people think of this: ...while others think of this: (And a few might think of this.) The D&D concept tends to be closer to the Shaolin monk, but settings like Forgotten Realms and...

    DDI vs. Dragon/Dungeon mags

It's really hard to judge D&D Insider right now. For me, it will probably rise or fall based on how important I deem access to the virtual game table. That said, I'm inclined to get it if it's good. So I chose the first option, since I was once a fairly regular subscriber (and occasional...

    What replaces DUNGEON?

Pathfinder is great, and I'm mixing elements from other Paizo Gamemastery adventures into my homebrew campaign. Pathfinder books are sort of like big issues of Dungeon; they include articles in addition to the big adventure path. But those articles tend to be pretty squarely focused on their...

Vote For Or Against POL Map Here

I'm one of the votes against. Providing city maps (like the town of Fallcrest that will be mapped in the DMG) is great, as is providing adventures with locations that reference each other (as the new H1-H3 adventures will). They can be dropped into any setting with no or minimal changes. As soon...

    Skill list guess

If "Thievery" wasn't previously confirmed as an official skill name, it was mentioned in today's Design & Development article.
