Why do you buy published adventures?

i buy them because I am not imaginitive enougb to write my own. I also like visual support such as maps and art.

What is the most over-the-top wildest D&D campaign you've been in?

Consensual? Missionary? Sheesh, what goes for wild these days :-p

    How useful is DMG2?

I am about to switch to trailblazer, but I'll keep using this book.

    Gargantuan? Creature size categories?

Hello people, I can't for the life of me find the number of squares gargantuan creatures occupy. The compendium seems to be of no help either. Is it only 4 by 4 (1 step up from huge)? Collossal as a size category between gargantuan and huge has been removed right? Edit: Nevermind, I thought...

    What's going on?

Bad Axe Games' Trailblazer is the product that Pathfinder should have been, IMO. And the PDF version has a nice and soft US$5 price tag right here on the ENWorld store.

    General consensus on expertise feats

Epic combat The above is a thread I started which details my epic level party without expertise feats still hitting too easily for my liking (ie. I am in the "ban the feats, don't give anything in return" camp).

    4E at higher levels question?

That doesn't match my experience. I am currently DMing 21st level 4e, and combats now take about the same time as when the PCs were 5th level, which is to say, roughly an hour. I do occasionaly have shorter fights, but also a few longer ones. I'll give you that low level 4e takes longer than low...

Help! There's a watery hole in my plot!

I agree with this. What you've written is a pretty cool background and reason to go out adventuring. It seems like a less than enjoyable game session however.

What do your parents (currently) think of D&D?

So they'd ground you if you didn't use the "weapon vs armor to hit modifier table"? That's harsh!

What do your parents (currently) think of D&D?

They probably think it is a bit odd that I still play this one game so often, and that I haven't gotten bored with it, but for them it is like I am playing a far too complex boardgame. The whole "D&D is satanic" thing didn't really hit these shores, or if it did, it certainly did not linger.

    Perform (Stand-Up Comedy)

Two dwarves are playing their weekly game of chess in their mountain halls. When a funeral procession comes by, one of the dwarves stands up and bows his head. The other dwarf replied: "I didn't know you had it in you to act with such respect." upon which the other dwarf replied "Well, we were...

Epic 4e play: the system makes it too easy for PCs to hit, instead of too hard.

As I said, dwarf barbarian is a worst case scenario build. Frankly, I'd call it a "poor build". Fighter, okay, you still mark, you have wisdom to Opportunity attacks with a feat, +1 to hit from class feature. But Dwarf Barbarian? I'd probably call the player aside to discuss a slightly more...

4E Mastery in a New Campaign

I don't know. Are they struggling to select powers. Are they trying to be tactical? I would need more information before I could make that call.

Epic 4e play: the system makes it too easy for PCs to hit, instead of too hard.

With 4 encounter, 4 daily, and several more utility powers per PC, I really can't see how that would happen. Could you create a plausible sitaution in which such a thing could happen? I think the dwarf barabarian you mentioned earlier is probably the worst hitting build that is not yet...

Epic 4e play: the system makes it too easy for PCs to hit, instead of too hard.

I recently flat-out house ruled certain justice to not work on solos. I am working on a more elegant solution. I think Jack99's condition track for Solos might do the trick. What I find annoying is that story wise, I have a hard time explaining where multiple epic level fights per day are coming...

    So how is 4th edition?

I'd like to say that for multi class spell casters, I like 4e rules better as a player. Additionally, I like the fact that 4e requires a lesser degree of mastery from the sytem in creating a PC. I did not like heading into combat in 3e with people using LA+1 races with poor stat and feat...

    So how is 4th edition?

I've chosen "both have merit". This is because your players don't seem to mind which edition you are playing, and you lean twoards third. So why did I coohse the middel option: because fourth edition is very good, and very DM friendly (though at epic, I am currently having some trouble properly...

Epic 4e play: the system makes it too easy for PCs to hit, instead of too hard.

Three or four, for story reasons. Usually there's still healing surges, action points and daily powers to spare. I very often string two encounters after another without a short rest too (sometimes letting them keep their buffs, sometimes not, that's about 50/50). I think the most the party has...

Your introduction to D&D: what order of books?

D&D cartoons when I was 7 or 8. Basic D&D when I was 16 or so. Played about two sessions. AD&D 2e, black cover, and a large number of splats, when I was 17 or 18. These were books I actually owned and read, nay, devoured.

Epic 4e play: the system makes it too easy for PCs to hit, instead of too hard.

DPR is fine. The rogue does roughly 45-50 damage on average per attack, not counting crits. The other players do less damage, but they hit more often, and the rogue hits always (when he rolls a 1, he rerolls due to epic trickster. Or daggermaster with the use of an action point. When those run...
