    Ranger: What needs fixing?

I like the idea here, but one seems too generous and one seems too stingy. The first system gives a 20th level Ranger +20 in Favoured Enemy bonuses, while the second system gives him +10 (the second system does give a more generous type of bonus, though). I like the simplicity, though. Add +1...

    Ranger: What needs fixing?

I haven't seen the Woodsman, though it was my understanding that they did not get spells. Could someone either summarize it or point me to a summarization? As for Heavy Armor, I don't think I'll be giving it to my Ranger. It just doesn't fit the flavor of the Ranger anyway. (As it stands...

    Ranger: What needs fixing?

I've seen the Monte Cook Ranger, and I kind of like it. It's the best one out there I've seen. My working modification of the Ranger is essentially a cross between the Monte Cook Ranger and the PHB Ranger. Thanks for all the replies, guys. That was very fast.

    Ranger: What needs fixing?

I forgot the whole Two-Weapon Fighting thing. The current Ranger class ropes you into a style of combat which does not necessarily agree with every Ranger. I don't see why every Ranger should be a dual-weapon wielding guy. What about the archer?

    Ranger: What needs fixing?

I know this has been done to death, but... I'm planning on making my own Ranger version because I have not been happy with any of the ones I've seen so far. (I have a working version, but I decided to make sure I was fixing the right things.) Anyway, could you please help me out by telling me...

    Fighter Core Class Variant

Yeah, I agree with the others. If you want to increase the class skills of the Fighter you have to reduce the Hit Dice and take away some of the bonus feats. When adding abilities to existing classes, you really have to take away something useful. Medium, heavy Armor, and Shields are useful...

Brew Potion Question someone please help...

Brew Potion is just like all the other Item Creation feats: "To brew a potion, you must spend 1/25 of this base price in XP and use up raw materials costing half this base price" (PHB, pg 80). So, it's half the cost in gold, 1/25 the cost in XP. For Brewers, they sell for full price and get...

Need help reducing campaign's magic intensity

One of the things I'll be doing when I start my low-magic campaign in the distant future will be to require all arcane spellcasters to take a feat in order to cast arcane spells. This helps the "few-spellcasters" problem a little by discouraging people to take the class--at the same time, if...

    Changing Dieties: New Domains?

You would lose feats granted by a domain power (such as Martial Weapon Proficiency and Weapon Focus from the War domain) and would be unable to use any feat which relied on one of these feats as a prerequisite (if you had 4 levels of Fighter and got Weapon Specialization, you'd have to relearn...

The best class for new players?

Ranger. At low levels, they are essentially Fighters, except their feats are already chosen for them (Two-Weapon Fighting, Ambidexterity). They get a little bit extra in the way of skills, allowing the newbie to experiment with some of the rogue abilities (Move Silent, Hide). When they...

How about "+1 level" for all spellcasting prestige classes?

For some Prestige Classes, this will not work well. Bladesinger, for instance, would be much nicer if it added to spellcaster level, but...one of his abilities is to cast a Bladesinger spell as a free action every round. To give this ability to a high level wizard would be very unbalanced...
