UA: New Race Options, Eladrin and Gith

Eladrin - choice of secondary ability, supercharged misty step (short rest instead of long) and revolving 4 cantrips? Isn't that a bit much? Githyanki - A bit redundant to have jump and misty step. I'd give them magic weapon at 5th level instead, fits with their usual lore as arcane warriors...

D&D 5E New Official PC Race? Grung Rogue ToA Surrogate

"The poison is only active during the attack action itself" is a houserule. *If* Grung does become an official option, I hope they at least add a sidebar on this. Otherwise, it'll probably just be another "it's monstrous, so we didn't bother making it balanced" race.

D&D 5E New Official PC Race? Grung Rogue ToA Surrogate

What if my Grung throws a poisoned dagger and misses? Can't my ally then pick up the poisoned dagger and save it for later?

D&D 5E New Official PC Race? Grung Rogue ToA Surrogate

As written, a Grung could also just reach out and tap you to apply the poisoned condition, and/or use unarmed attacks. Needs a rule about how long the poison stays viable once applied to a piercing weapon. 1 min?

Oh yeah, I think the Yuan-Ti are horrible too. Straight Magic Resistance, and poison immunity? C'mon.

D&D 5E New Official PC Race? Grung Rogue ToA Surrogate

I guess there's a new AL legal, WotC official PC race? There's a Grung (poison dart frog humanoid from Volo's) Rogue in the Tomb of Annihilation surrogate character pdf. GRUNG SPEED. You have a climb speed of 25 ft. AMPHIBIOUS. You can breathe air and water. POISON IMMUNITY. You are immune...

D&D 5E Homebrew Race - Durulz, the Ducks of Glorantha

Hello everyone. I've modded a race from the Glorantha setting for 5e, using halflings as a base. Love 'em, hate 'em, would you play 'em? (Lore text hacked and slashed from Glorantha the Second Age - Ducks, A Guide to the Durulz, by Brian Steele.) Durulz The Durulz are truly cursed by the...

    D&D 5E Magic Resistance

Give them a paladin's smite, call it Arcane Feedback or Resonance or something, change damage type to force, only works against creatures that cast spells (inc. innately and psionically). They don't use magic, but know how to mess up those that do. Puts those supercharged warlock spell slots to...

    D&D 5E Magic Resistance

While Gnomes do get advantage vs magic with 3/6 saves, they get the less powerful half. They get one "good/common" save (Wisdom), and two uncommon saves. The physical saves (ie Dex & Con) are targeted much more often. Gnome Cunning is still awesome, mind you, but it's something to keep in mind...

    D&D 5E [5e] Gnoll

I want to preface this with "whatever you want to do, that's cool. These are only the musings of an internet stranger." I don't want to come off as "Turn your homebrew into my homebrew" or anything. I just like talking D&D. Str/dex might actually work as it gives them a very "physical" feel...

    D&D 5E [5e] Gnoll

I'd change Charisma. I get that you feel strongly about intimidation, but that's just 1/4 of Cha skills and I don't see Gnolls as being naturally good at persuasion, deception, or performance. Charisma, as per the phb, "includes such factors as confidence and eloquence, and it can represent a...

    D&D 5E Rogue (11) Multiclass options

Just keep in mind that it's not intended for Jack of all Trades and Reliable Talent to be used on the same roll. You probably already have proficiency in 7 skills (8 if you multiclass into Bard) so JoaT less valuable for you than someone a full bard. It's is still good, especially for the...

D&D 5E Yet Another Take on Searching, Passive Perception etc

I use Perception for "sight, sound, smell" checks. That leaves investigation for "touch"; flipping through papers or books, fiddling with a mechanical device, rummaging through desks, etc. "Taste" hasn't come up yet... maybe constitution saving throw? ;)

    D&D 5E My Gnoll PC race/update

Volo's also says they use bows a lot, so dexterity is also a good fit. Just because they are all cultists of Yeenoghu, doesn't mean they need to be wise. Orcs follow Gruumsh, an actual diety (Yeenoghu is a demon), religion is a huge part of their fluff and they aren't wise. Yeah, Str/Wis is a...

    D&D 5E My Gnoll PC race/update

But are gnolls, as a race, known for having above average wisdom? Personally, I don't think being wise or intuitive is a part of their racial theme. @Scott Steven Bell Yeah stealth is "predatory", I just thought since you already have +Dex then the gnoll would need more help with tracking...

    D&D 5E My Gnoll PC race/update

Str/Dex is nice as it's more unique. There's enough Str/Con races already. Also, 35ft speed wouldn't be out of place here. Nevermind about the speed, doesn't match up with the MM. Some wording suggestions: Carrion Eater: You have advantage on saving throws against poison and disease. Bite...

    D&D 5E Good-Aligned Antagonists

Easily handwaved: - LG drow see humans as humans see orcs, inherently Evil. This is due to local Evil Human Empire that the drow smashed hundreds of years ago, and the long-lived isolationist elves can't comprehend the notion that the short-lived humans are so extremely variable. "Do you expect...

D&D 5E The Thug, A Subclass for Strength Rogues

I feel there are some things that you're failing to understand. -I'm trying to make a subclass that is good at different things than other rogues. -There is only one "key aspect of the Rogue class" (Evasion) that absolutely requires Dexterity. -Expertise & Reliable Talent are very potent; a...
