D&D 5E Anyone Using the Optional Initiative from the DMG?

Anything that slows down combat from the default is not an option I'd like. Though it does sound interesting, in theory.

Fifth Edition Character Sheet: An Android App

I've used this to create my PC for a game that been on hiatus for a couple months. It works really well.

Early Enrollment for PATHFINDER Online Opens Today!

Yikes, are those videos supposed to make you want to play? I absolutely wouldn't waste my time with it if it was free, and am fairly certain I wouldn't commit to playing for 3 months if they offered to pay me $100.

Which of these would you like to see in 2015 from WotC?

It's not a old/new style. There are old 1e glitzy railroads (DL series) and new backdrop adventures (Legacy of the Crystal Shard). Len Lakofka's adventures were fantastic, but most 1e adventures were not of similar stock.

    D&D 5E BREAKING 5th Edition!

Well, except for, well...you know. (This is actually fun).

D&D 5E Do you use a DM screen?

I didn't say anyone else is doing it wrong, whatever works for you. Just as what I do works for me.

D&D 5E Do you use a DM screen?

I haven't for years. I prefer a more open approach and rolling dice in the open. My notes are on a laptop or clipboard and aren't easily seen by players (though I play with adults that wouldn't peak at them if they could, anyway). I'd rather use a crib sheet, again, either on my laptop or as...

    D&D 5E BREAKING 5th Edition!

If frustrating your DM is the goal, you don't need no silly game rules. My suggestions: 1. Sit next to him and poke him in the arm every 10 seconds. 2. Every time he starts explaining something, yell, ""Quiet! ...did you hear that?" 3. When he sets up minis on the battlemat, use it as an...

D&D 5E Observations and opinions after 8 levels and a dragon fight

But I don't want my game to be like a book or a movie!! My players hate reading, and I don't want none of that CGI crap in my game.

D&D 5E Clerics of Life: Broken, Bad Design, or Working as Intended?

Can we then agree that, regardless of clerics, lazy, unadaptable, and unprepared players are doomed to failure? :)

D&D 5E I Am One of the Few Who Plays D&D in Japan

No need to confirm or deny, but I'm imagining playing D&D with Shigeru Miyamoto. That would be totally awesome. :)

D&D 5E Clerics of Life: Broken, Bad Design, or Working as Intended?

What I take from the quote in the OP is that Jester is replying to someone that thinks not having a Cleric of Life in a party dooms it to failure. Which obviously is not true. Anecdotally, my group's 4-member party includes a cleric of war that can heal when needed and a paladin that can back...

    D&D 5E The 'Optional' DMG

I've been running the game I want to run since March, starting with the final playtest, then replacing that with Basic, and adding the books as they released. So, no, not required, but nice to have.

Lone Wolf Prepping to bring D&D 5th Edition to HEROLAB!

Regarding HeroLab being expensive, that depends how you use it. If you want to buy all of the official Pathfinder material for it, yeah, it sure can be. But using the content editor isn't that difficult once you mess around with it for a bit. I'm using it for my Savage Worlds game, which...

    D&D 3E/3.5 The DMG: A CRITICAL HIT at 93.5%!

...and now I'm flashing back to stats class, lol. Okay, given, but that wasn't the point of my post, which remains. And while a sample of product reviews by users may produce a bell curve, I still believe it will skew high, as consumers tend to consume products they prefer rather than random...

    D&D 3E/3.5 The DMG: A CRITICAL HIT at 93.5%!

ENnies are fan-voted (after nominations, of course), so no, the only bias is fanboy bias, the reason I just look at nominees all as "winners" (aka stuff I should take a look at) and ignore the actual winners. That said, 13th Age has "only an 85"? I'm flashing back to high school... :p

    D&D 3E/3.5 The DMG: A CRITICAL HIT at 93.5%!

Exactly. If you think a product is "Excellent", you give it a 5. The system may be nebulous in how one defines "Excellent," but this isn't a scientific survey, it's just a bit of fun.

    D&D 3E/3.5 The DMG: A CRITICAL HIT at 93.5%!

Once again, opinion isn't fact. Someone else may hate something you love. That isn't absurd, that's how we humans function.

    D&D 3E/3.5 The DMG: A CRITICAL HIT at 93.5%!

I'm not saying one should sing, "Everything is Awesome," while posting reviews for every book one has used in a game they enjoyed. But posting one 5 and 37 4's probably isn't the best way to go either.

LOL, I was going to write that exact line and backed off. Thank you, sir. :)
