    Cranking up the DC on low level spells

    Problem: My characters are interacting with an 18th level Arch-Mage, and they are now at 2nd level. When the Arch-Mage casts Charm Person on them, I think they should pretty well be charmed. But since the DC is based on spell level, not caster level, the DC's are always in a make-able range...

    Our Bard has taken a liking to the following tactic: He stands near the edge of the party, sings and turns on total defense. With his high dex and five tumble ranks, his AC is up around 24. For the creatures they are fighting at second level, they pretty much need natural 20's to hit him...

    Wizards Custserv response on Total Defense

    Re: Sage response on Total Defense "the -4 penalty"? Sounds like custserv thinks you are talking about fighting defensively, not total defense. I'd clarify to them that you are referring to total defense and see if the answer is the same.

    Song and Silence does clarify that, under the proper circumstances, you can sneak up on someone and attack before he or she sees you. If you can attack before being seen, then you are still unseen as you attack. What exact advantage this gives you is not stated. As far as immediately rehiding...

    Does a hidden character count as "invisible" with regards to the "Attacker Invisible" entry on table 8-8 of the PHB, thereby giving a +2 to attack and denying the target its dex bonus to AC? If not, does the hidden character deny the target its dex bonus to AC implicitly, perhaps without the +2...
