    Druid Speaking Common while Wildshaped?

Hi, Sorry if I offended you. I did not mean to imply that you must run your campaign according to my opinion. I suppose I could have worded it as: I cannot see a consistent explanation for: 1) Druids can cast spells while wildshaped, but not talk. 2) Awakened animals can talk in animal...

    Druid Speaking Common while Wildshaped?

Hi all, The question I was really posing was "is there a way in a published ruleset to allow a druid to speak the languages he or she knows while wildshaped". I realize that there are umpteen ways of getting around this: mimeing, scratching out messages on the ground, etc. etc. But I think...

    Druid Speaking Common while Wildshaped?

Dr. Rictus - I don't know if that's an obvious conclusion - or at least, the cause is not well established if that conclusion is true. Most people likely play druids as simply wildshapers during combat situations, or scout situations, etc.. When they're done, they change back. Before...

    Druid Speaking Common while Wildshaped?

Well, you can take "Speaking Wildshape" feat from MotW. Allows you to speak the language of the form you are currently inhabiting. I agree it's a cool power, and I like very much. I don't know if I'll be able to take it though ... I am currently tight on feats. Also, you could buy a "torc of...

    Druid Speaking Common while Wildshaped?

Hi Skaros, Sorry if I gave you the wrong impression. I didn't mean that my druid wanted to be Mr. Chatty - I am more on the side of Dimwhit - you want to be able to occasionally voice an opinion without having to change form. I could argue that even if you take the extreme, and you want a...

    Characters made only for combat

Hi Doc, I would agree with the sentiment that this sort of stuff should be settled by skill checks, not GM decision. I used to GM by the theory that the GM makes the decisions of the NPCs, and to tell the truth, it wasn't very popular. Not because they felt ripped off necessarily, but because...

    Druid Speaking Common while Wildshaped?

Well, by "total waste" I was specifically referring to the druid's ability to share ideas and thoughts with the group. And as to "encouraging roleplaying" ... that's so open ended. In this case, it's discouraging roleplaying. I don't want to sit in dire bear form because it's kickass, I...

    Druid Speaking Common while Wildshaped?

Druids can't cast tongues. It's a Sor/Wiz Brd Clr spell. Rary's telepathic bond is a Sor/Wiz only spell. Ventriloquism won't work because it states "any sound that you can make normally", and clearly you can't make speec normally, while wildshaped. Yes, I could create a companion speak with...

How bad is an 8 in an ability score?

Well, if you assume that this board is an accurate sample group, then half the people here are average intelligence or lower. =)

    Druid Speaking Common while Wildshaped?

I thought Speaking Wildshape only allowed you to talk in the language of the animal that you had currently assumed. No?

    Druid Speaking Common while Wildshaped?

Well that just seems odd. An awakened animal speaks the languages of the caster. I dont' see why a wildshaped druid couldn't. And I'm amazed that this sort of thing hasn't been addressed ... at high levels druids barely need to change forms for a whole day.

    Permanency

I don't know if it's been erratta'd, but an interesting note: According to the spell description, "Magic Fang" can be made Permanent. But Permanency is only on the Sor/Wiz list, while Magic Fang is only on the Ranger/Druid list. strange goodness ...

    Druid Speaking Common while Wildshaped?

So ... According to MotW, the druid's wildshape ability prevents the individual from speaking any of the languages he or she knows. The new form only allows primitive noises. (It also doesn't allow her to speak the language of the animal whose shape she took). So does anyone know of any way...

Animal Lord (MotW) question - how useful farspeech, etc.?

Yeah, I've made the same assumptions ... I just wonder if anyone has actually tried it in game terms. That is, how has this sort of thing played out. Birdlord definitely seems on the "I can see everything" scale, while bearlord seems to be on the "I might find one other bear in 100 sq miles"...

Animal Lord (MotW) question - how useful farspeech, etc.?

Hi guys, Has anyone here played an Animal Lord (I have seen a few people have on a previous thread ...) The question is: How useful is farspeech, animal sense, and share perceptions? This and animal bond seem to be the only truly different stuff from a high level druid and a high level...

    Druid spell typo?

Here, http://enworld.cyberstreet.com/news/modules.php?op=modload&name=News&file=article&sid=1296&mode=thread&order=0&thold=0 The Sage mentions there's a typo in the druid's spell advancement. I can't find this in the FAQ, the Clarifications, or the Errata. I have a first printing copy of the...

Please help me build a 15th level character

re: Shifter ... How much work is it to figure out what the BAB of the form is, and then replacing that with your own? It seems like an enormous amount of work. Plus, are the options all that wide? That is, for combat you choose a form with a high str, high dex. For certain skills, you can...
