The Human Race has no Culture!

The Dragon Age RPG does this. You choose a background which includes race and that background determines which class you qualify for (either warrior, rogue or mage).

The Human Race has no Culture!

PC's are super human because they are the focus of the games narrative. In the same way the main characters of a book are more effective then the minor ones

The Human Race has no Culture!

I disagree that we should have different human subraces. I mean in game of thrones there isnt a large genetic difference between the various nations. I'm not too keen on subraces for this reason. Surely most of the time the difference is only cultural? I think that's why 4th ed had distinct...

    Must Try Harder: Spell Levels

A spell can have a minimum "slot level" it can be stored in and then placed in higher spell slots for greater effect. its a great idea. A flavourfull way to describe it would be that the greater effect is due to the wizard spending more mental energy in memorising the spell. And so higher level...

    Sorcerer vs Wizard

I too would like to see spells given keywords and that the overall presentation of spells is improved. I would really like spells to be arranged by level and then alphabetically in the books aswell.

    Character Sheets

I like a good character sheet. helps fast play and then I dont have to design my own. I also want printer friendly character sheets. Every systems character sheets seem to waste a lot of my precious black ink.

Why do Halflings get damage bonuses?

Slightly unrelated but I think it would be nice for each race that gets a weapon damage bonus would get the option of another ability instead. It would go along way for settings that have very different racial flavour and would give the option of removing them nicely for those that do not like...

[Playtest 2] Races: Humans too good?

Many posts are assuming that humans are the baseline race and that the other races have bonuses and penalties to reach that baseline. I dont think that that is the case at all. I think the "baseline race" is theoretical and every pc race has a fixed but different bonus above that baseline. So...

    Non Advantage/Disadvantage bonus and penalties

I think there should be a rule, or suggestion rather, that a DM can rule that a characters overwhelming advantage can ignore minor disadvantage. I think this guideline should be encouraged to work in the players favour. On topic, I think a +1 bonus here or there is fine, provided that it is...

Cackling Manaically at the 13 Aug Legends and Lore

Then why does the wizard need to rest to regain spells? It only takes a minute per spell to memorise. Sound pretty mentally taxing to me.

    D&D 4E This isn't my 4e - I like it!

Nice way to approach the Playtest

Cackling Manaically at the 13 Aug Legends and Lore

As an in world justification: The spells require a wizard to train his mind to hold them (Spell Slots). The greater spells are quite taxing on the mind so the wizard has to rest for a while before attempting to memorise them again. however, lesser spells are not as straining so only require a...

Cackling Manaically at the 13 Aug Legends and Lore

Well, I think it would be quite useful for a wizard to load up on the big spells in the morning and then refresh those empty slots with the more niche utility style spells later in the day. There may even be less incentive for the wizard player to rest and reload if his spell slots fill up with...

    Five-Minute Workday Article

But surely we don't want nuclear armed casters in a mixed adventuring party where each character is run by an individual player. A person who is making a time commitment to playing the game.

Ability damage, should it be in the game???

Hadn't noticed this. Sounds pretty cool actually. and you can do the reverse aswell. For instance Bull's Strength could give a flat bonus to melee damage and advantage on all strength checks.

Ability damage, should it be in the game???

I vote not at all I have found ability and level drain to be over complicated and not a fun mechanic as both a GM and a player. I think there are better ways of handling poisons and soul sucking vampires. 4E had a disease track and that worked pretty well

    Base measurement in DDN

I know the reasons for it, I just find it slows down the game when a person tries to move in combat. Especially new players. It just simpler to have one square move be 5 ft/1 yard/1 metre/whatever at all times.
