I live in a metric country. I have a devil of a time trying to sort out distance in feet. It also confuses the hell out of my players. Especially new players. so I vote 1 yard = 1 metre = 1 square.

The "Monstrous Compendium Appendix II Terrors Beyond Tyr" 2E book had an Athasian bear called a Klar. Its basically the Armadillo plated psionic bear mentioned earlier
