    Advice for Boosting a FLGS

Yes, more people are good, especially women and other folks that may not fit the gamer stereotype. As for coffee shop, I am not sure if gamers are coffee snobs. I know I am one, but most gamers I know drink copious amounts of soda. Awww, I'm so sympathetic to this one. I am a total introvert...

    Advice for Boosting a FLGS

And I love the idea of a discount card. I think it's a good idea to find employees wherever you can. I am not positive an average coffee shop employee would want to work for a game store. Gamers can be a weird bunch that not all people are comfortable with (and in all fairness I am including...

    Advice for Boosting a FLGS

Don't forget the basics: 1. Hire good employees. I'm sure this is a tough one simply because game stores can rarely offer good salaries and benefits. A good employee will ask any customer if they can help them find anything. And they will quite asking if they say, "No." Obviously good...

Help, need new anti-virus for laptop/PC

Pretty much anything but Symantec/Norton. I have good results with free and paid AVG, free AVast, and free Avira. I use Kaspersky antivirus at the moment. The price is at right at Amazon ($20 for three users at Amazon)

    Pathfinder 1E Golarion Setting Discussion

I have too many settings already I always thought Golarion was a generic setting like any other (like a pastiche of Greyhawk and Forgotten Realms with some Mona and Jacobisms). Then I started reading the Inner Sea book in a bookstore. Wow. The production values are awesome. The back story is...

Going to my first ever convention!

Sounds like you are an ideal con goer. For those that don't know: Tip 1) Personal hygiene: Shower daily, wear clean clothes, brush teeth and comb hair Tip 2) Clean clothes are really important (in addition to the shower). Yes, everyone wants to see your gamer shirt, but not if it's full of...

    [June] What are you reading?

The originals by Ian Fleming or pastiches by other authors?

Take a stand! LotR vs. GoT

Post apocalyptic Middle Earth and Westeros? I think a mutant oliphaunt would be awesome. I have a feeling that the Others would survive and thrive in Westeros with the onset of nuclear winter....

    [June] What are you reading?

I just finished reading Fool Moon, book two of the Dresden files. I liked it, but I am still ambivalent about the protagonist Harry Dresden. I think I would like to read something light, breezy, and action-packed next; maybe something like Indiana Jones in book form.

Take a stand! LotR vs. GoT

Different strokes for different folks. One is gritty and realistic and one is fantastic and epic. Both have awesome critters, oliphaunts, demons, and barrow-wrights in one and mammoths, dragons, and half-dead in the other. If you put a gun to my head, I'd pick GoT, simply because they are...

Dungeons & Dragons TV show DVD set on sale for cheap at Amazon

Thanks for the heads-up. Amazon is really goading me into buying all these cool, nostalgic shows like the D&D cartoon and Prince Valiant and Pirates of Dark Water. What's a nostalgic geek to do?

I think I might be a creepy older gamer

No way man. Everyone knows that high school girls are rules lawyers in training. She'll be exploiting every loophole there is. And she might cry and make you feel bad if you don't let her get away with it. :heh:

    [May] What are you reading?

Finished reading "Fool Moon", book 2 of the Dresden files. I'm still debating if I like the protagonist or not. Right now I'm reading "CCNA ICND2 Official Exam Certification Guide". So far no vampires, werewolves, orcs, goblins, magic or supernatural of any kind. But I'm holding out hope that...

    Toppings on Pizza

I like savory foods, for sure. It's strange that neither of my parents were really into garlic, onions, tomatoes, or olives and I love all those things. Maybe my mother was right: I was switched at the hospital. Is it wrong that I want to hear it?

    PlayStation Network back online

Understood. The RRoD is why I bought a PS3 (that and it has Blu-Ray). Maybe MS will have the last laugh if this new PSN upgrade gets hacked again.

    PlayStation Network back online

Well, at least it's back online now. I haven't checked if I works for me or not, but I'm positive it will. Has the Xbox network been hacked before? You think that it would have considering that Microsoft is a favorite target.

    Toppings on Pizza

I definitely salt my watermelon before eating it. I knew one lady that salted and peppered her watermelon. Her husband thought to do either was an abomination. I really don't salt any other melons, though. Take that salted tomato & mayo, add some bacon, lettuce, and two slices of bread you...

    Toppings on Pizza

I do but only if the salad has tomatoes on it. Salt pulls the moisture right out of the tomato, but I like the flavor. Also I almost always sprinkle pepper on my salads (sometimes before tasting it). I'm weird, I guess.
