Song of Ice and Fire - Official Book 5 Pub Date!

George R.R. Martin has never set a day before, so I'm pretty confident book 5 should be released at or around July 2011. Now for book 6, we have an U.S. Presidential election in 2012. We may see book 6 in 2020 or so

    Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim

I have played two Elder Scroll games, including Daggerfall and Oblivion. I have never finished them, but I love running around killing stuff. Their games do seem a bit buggy, but hopefully they learned their lesson without shrinking the world too much.

    The tragedy of dice collecting

I don't have many dice sets. I can specifically remember when and where I obtain all my sets. I have a cheap multiple colored set from the D&D boxed set (1991), a red marblized set from Koplow (my first real set!), translucent amber dice from Chessex, and Speckled blue dice from Chessex. I have...

If you could play in a campaign of your choice, what would it be?

Top 10 Games 10. Gaming with people that are clean 9. Playing a weird-but-cool game like Rifts with a wacky-and-fun GM 8. Finding people that are willing and able to regularly play your obscure-but-cool game 7. Old school gaming in AD&D 1e/2e hybrid FR gray box with awesome players 6. Gaming...

If we were to see a new and better D&D movie, what setting would you like it to be?

As Homer Simpson would say, "Now let's play the waiting game... Nuts to that. Let's play Hungry, Hungry Hippos!" I did laugh at that. Strange I didn't get that earlier. I knew they were hippo men...

    February: What are you reading?

I read the first chapter or 2 in Hastings. It was mildly entertaining to me. Does the pace improve after this point? I read the parts .

If we were to see a new and better D&D movie, what setting would you like it to be?

Excuse me if I'm being dense, but white marbles? The other stuff sounded great. When I get more than $50 million you'll be my first contact.

If we were to see a new and better D&D movie, what setting would you like it to be?

If I had $50 mil, I would give to Danny just so I can see Giant Space Hamsters on the big screen. With only $50 M we probably could only see the GSH, though.

    February: What are you reading?

Like many of you I am reading the Walking Dead graphic novels. I have stayed away from the television series until I can get at least halfway through the series. I finished the first book of the Dresden Files series. I liked it okay, but I'm not sure if I like the protagonist, Henry Dresden...

Scott Thorne, a retailer, comments on recent events

Good point. I do consider Paizo Pathfinder's PDF products to be a different product than DI, though. That's why I wasn't quite ready to say to argue paper versus digital. To me the current focus on DI has Wizards management spell-bound, but at the same time a bit lost. To really do DI right...

Scott Thorne, a retailer, comments on recent events

The article was a bit disappointing to me. I was hoping for some real insights and I felt like the author was either holding back information or felt rushed to write the article. All we really learned is that Wizards did not communicate the minature cancellation to their retailers directly. I...

Which team will win Super Bowl XLV?

I'm working tomorrow, but I get finished at 4:30 Arizona. That should be 6:30 Eastern, just in time for kick-off. I'll probably miss the first 1/2 hour due to traffic, etc, but on well. The best part is the second half, unless the game is a blow-out.

I'm considering dropping Pathfinder to return to D&D 2e.

I had hella good time with AD&D 2ed in the past. Then the splatbooks and race books kinda took some of the simple fun out of the game. If it were me I'd run the game as close to Core as possible. Sure there's some wonky stuff in there, but if you use the 50% rule it should work okay. Combine...

    Ravenloft-Your Experiences

Ravenloft always seemed to me to have really awesome potential, but quickly ruined by the wrong group and/or bad DM. The few times I've played in it seemed to be the "kill this undead monster thingie, so you can go back home again", sort of like a Gothic horror version of Dorthy and the Wizard...

Anne Hathaway cast as Selina "Catwoman" Kyle in upcoming Batman 3

She certainly is a ... curvy girl. But does she have the acting chops to play Catwoman?

If we were to see a new and better D&D movie, what setting would you like it to be?

I agree about DS. As for Spelljammer, I think Treasure Planet did an awesome job in the genre, but it didn't do well at the box office. What would you do differently for Spelljammer?

If we were to see a new and better D&D movie, what setting would you like it to be?

"I am your guide to the realm of Dungeons & Dragons"

If we were to see a new and better D&D movie, what setting would you like it to be?

I still want to see my plucky sidekick Eberron movie, darn it. Hmm, I wonder what Hollywood actors and actresses can do plucky.... Is Blood Bowl an option?

Which team will win Super Bowl XLV?

I just meant stat wise. The Steelers have six Super Bowl wins and 1 loss versus GB's three Super Bowl wins and 1 loss. As for the quality of each team this year, I don't know that.

If we were to see a new and better D&D movie, what setting would you like it to be?

Spelljamer has mostly been done already (Treasure Planet) with poor box office results. Greyhawk and Forgotten Realms are almost too generic to differentiate from the successful Lord of the Rings film trilogy. My choice: Dark Sun Would would Hollywood least likely to screw up? Hollywood has...
