D&D 5E Troubleshooting Princes of the Apocalypse

Aarakocra are a delicacy to many races, they are often hunted as food. In the opening scene of PotA the six characters will walk past three hunters that are cooking an aarakocra to underscore this point to the two bird characters, to see how they will react (we start next Tuesday).

D&D 5E Maximum Manageable Number of Players

It all depends on the skill and experience of the DM, and the level of cooperation from the players. Four to six is optimal, but I played in one group with 14 players (two assistant DMs).

D&D 5E Help with a simple exp system for 5E

Make it super simple... set a number of game sessions to play at each level.

    D&D 5E What is Missing from 5E?

No further comments, we each enjoy different things about each game system/edition we play. I really do like the simplified rules, but they went too far in removing magic.

    D&D 5E What is Missing from 5E?

That would be absolutely correct, I loved the richness of earlier magic systems. To each their own. But as I said "I learned to play a wood elf monk of the open hand with the mobile feat."

    D&D 5E What is Missing from 5E?

Magic... it's gone literally and figuratively. But that's OK, I learned to play a wood elf monk of the open hand with the mobile feat.

D&D 5E Thank you WoTc: I feel like 5th edition has brought the spirit back into D&D.

The biggest drawback is over-weakened magic, fortunately veteran DMs can adjust for that.

D&D 5E Give Me Three Reasons To Play Greyhawk

    1) You decide it's what you and your players want to do. 2) You decide it's what you and your players want to do. 3) You decide it's what you and your players want to do. If none of the three above reasons work for you, then do something else.

    D&D 5E Which Urban Setting for D&D 5e?

I 'borrow' Constantinople from Vampire, Dark Ages. There are a lot of good maps available for use.

D&D 5E Sell me on the World of Greyhawk please

The campaign setting book creates a good frame for a world, it's what becomes all the canon around it over the years that is playing someone else's game. If you don't have time, stick with the book as written.

D&D 5E Sell me on the World of Greyhawk please

Some people like to play someone else's story, some people like to create their own.

D&D 5E Tell me your positive experiences with HotDQ

It is a bland module if played by the book, it requires the DM to spice it up a bit.

    D&D 5E Edition Wars, WHY?

It's like Fox News' war on Christmas, it's usually people that are too touchy feeling defensive over nothing.

D&D 5E Characters that annoy you (and/or the players who play them)

When maximizing is about winning rather than interesting, then it does hurt the game (from my perspective).

D&D 5E Is the Cleric really one of the ‘core four’ anymore?

Core classes have been replaced with the four abilities they represented... heavy combat, stealth, healing, and arcane magic.

    D&D 5E What's wrong with a human-centric fantasy world?

Or you can do the opposite and have a Galactica campaign, where there are no human cities and survivors are hunted by all other races. However some non-human adventurers are willing to risk the death penalty and associate with them.

    D&D 5E Adventurer's Guild

We usually encourage the players to design guilds and organizations. In HotDQ my dwarf fighter is an armor smith and stone mason from Silverymoon. The stone masons guild was to be called the Icewind Dale Independent Order of Terraformers, but the DM said that name was idiotic.

D&D 5E EXP options That we use.

I am the Drew Carey of DMs... "Where Everything Is Made Up & The Points Don’t Matter." I advance the group to the next level when I want to, based on their interest in needing new abilities, and my wanting to increase the toughness of challenges.

D&D 5E Players Killing Players for stupid reason

Ha! The only time I participated in a group player-character kill was when a player moved (pre-internet days), and it was like ants swarming his body and keep for magic items and treasure.
