    Ring of Invisibility Question

Yes...and that cost is paid when the ring is forged. Yes, but you picked a bad example, because a ring of three wishes doesn't emulate a wish spell, the item description states that it actually stores wish spells. But that's just nitpicking, IMO.

    Ring of Invisibility Question

To me, "as the spell" means it works like the spell, including duration. But when I DM, I just assume that characters are continually reactivating such items as needed, so there's no need to track it.

    D&D 3E/3.5 D&D 3.5 rules question - Climb Speed

(Sorry for the formatting.) Monster Manual, page 311-312: A creature with a climb speed has a +8 racial bonus on all Climb checks. The creature must make a Climb check to climb any wall or slope with a DC of more than 0, but it always can choose to take 10 (see Checks without Rolls, page...

    Pathfinder 1E Flat - Footed

FWIW, I've never seen anybody actually play it that way. In every game I've ever run, played in, or even just watched, you are flat-footed until you take your first action, whether that's in a surprise round or the first regular round.

    Origins of the Term "Gamer"

I'm not even remotely aware of it. I know for a fact that I did, at least. I've never referred to myself as a "D&Der" and only rarely as a "role-player," which to me sounds more like I'm in therapy or being forced to participate in some lame workplace team-building exercise. Nope, it was always...

    Attacking Grappled Targets?

As I recall, that example of play (in the 3.5 DMG) is essentially a modified copy of an example of play from either 1st or 2nd edition, and reflects an older style of "ad hoc DMing" that was once assumed to be understood as part of the game, but is no longer as common. Back then, DMs felt quite...

Pathfinder 1E Holy heck! There's a guy STUPID enough to ask for pirated materials on the Pathfinder FACEBOOK PAGE!!!!

And it's ironic that he did... Indeed. As a criminal prosecutor, I can assure you I'd much rather be convicted of petty larceny (i.e., theft of a book) than copyright infringement. The consequences of the latter are far worse than the former.

Handling the Feint in a Game

??? If you know you just fell for a feint...then you didn't fall for the feint.

    D&D 3E/3.5 D&D 3.5 Scent Ability Question

Your DM doesn't like you having the Scent ability, and it's unlikely that anything you can say or do will change his attitude about it.

Handling the Feint in a Game

I would not tell the player, because there are actions he could take to nullify the feint...but Fighting Defensively isn't one of them. Fighting Defensively gives you a dodge bonus to your AC. Feinting denies you your Dexterity bonus to AC...and dodge bonuses are lost whenever you lose your...

Pathfinder 1E Pathfinder Leveling Up Procedure Question about Skill Points

Nope. That's never been a Pathfinder rule, nor did it appear in any previous edition. It could only have been a house rule or misunderstanding of the actual rules.

Pathfinder 1E Taking 20 with Sleight of Hand

This is correct. You should never be able to take 20 on an opposed skill check.

I know that this is wrong, but I think it works. Ways to stop Dispel and Disjunction

I'm not sure where you got that idea; a line of effect is canceled by any solid barrier. A one-inch thickness of stone works just as well as iron does. But whatever. Why wouldn't it work? It says right in the rules for bursts: "[A burst spell] can't affect creatures with total cover from its...

Pathfinder 1E What race would you choose to dominate a setting.

Yep, that would be my actual vote. (But I voted Humans, since this wasn't an option.) What I think would really be a fun change of pace would be to have a "savage" race like hobgoblins or lizardfolk or something be the dominant culture, a la Planet of the Apes.

Pathfinder 1E How far can you push Illusions?

I assume you mean major image, which creates the visual, auditory, olfactory, and/or thermal illusion of an object, creature, or force. So the illusionist could create the illusion of a "force" that looks, sounds, and smells like a concussion blast, but it wouldn't feel like a concussion blast...

    Knowledge (Local)

Neither. The default 3.5 d20 rules do not assume Knowledge (local) is tied to any particular place or region. Although tying the skill to particular places and/or regions has a certain appeal, in practice it devalues the skill because you have to remain in that area or lose the benefit of having...

Pathfinder 1E Advice Needed: Best way to work with Power Gamers?

Two quick ideas: (1) Instead of increasing defenses to the point that half the PCs can't possibly hit them, use a greater number of enemy creatures with more reasonable defenses. Don't be afraid to pile on more and more foes, and whittle down your PCs' resources. (2) Make the environment more...

    Tripping and TWF

The feat says: "If you trip an opponent in melee combat, you immediately get a melee attack against that opponent as if you hadn't used your attack for the trip attempt." So any attack you could have made when you instead chose to make the trip attempt can be made as your follow-up attack.
