is it me? FFG Star Wars

Edemaitre -- I'm gearing up for a Star Wars campaign and I've narrowed it down to WEG d6 and Savage Worlds. Between those two, which would you prefer if running today? Any why? Love to get your advice. :-) (We've ruled out FFG EotE and Fate; we've tried both and had issued in my particular...

Strengths and Weaknesses of WEG's d6 compared to FFG's new system?

How exactly would that house rule work? Maybe cap certain skills at 4D or 5D? What skills -- all of them?

    Best Star Wars RPG?

Stacie -- just curious re: your comment on FFG doing a great job balancing Force and Non-Force users -- are you referring to Edge of the Empire? In that there are no full Jedi. I have not seen the Force and Destiny Beta yet and I'm curious to see how they balance fully Jedi vs. non-Force users...

    Best Star Wars RPG?

Ditto on what Lyle said. I'll also add that as a partially color-blind person (as about 8% of males are), trying to decipher the color coded dice symbols in the FFG books is a real challenge. I do OK with the dice, but the little dice icons in the book -- not easy to use for the color challenged.

D&D 4E Is Pathfinder Combat As Slow as 4e?

This was the consensus of a 4e review at All Games Considered just a week ago -- 4e is slow and requires a lot of book-keeping compared to 3.5 (and by extension, Pathfinder). http://media.libsyn.com/media/tashkal/20101207RPGB-64k.mp3

D&D 4E Is Pathfinder Combat As Slow as 4e?

I'm a newbie to Pathfinder/3.5 -- what's a 'buff'? Just the bonus you get for something?

D&D 4E Is Pathfinder Combat As Slow as 4e?

Lost of great insights from this post -- thanks Celtavian! In particular, I'm glad to see that with Pathfinder I have the option to avoid some of the 4e bookkeeping like condition markers. On another note, it it just me, or does 4e have a tendency to tie you to a battlemat or dungeon tiles? Do...

D&D 4E Is Pathfinder Combat As Slow as 4e?

Thanks for this advice. One question: I've used battlemats in more of a marker-board-esque fashion, where I'm drawing out the dungeon map (in a very rough way) and we have miniatures for PCs and pogs for monsters. But, I just use the miniatures for relative positioning -- we don't use the...

D&D 4E Is Pathfinder Combat As Slow as 4e?

Great tip! Maybe that's what I'll do. My players like the mini's for eye candy though, so we'll see if they want them around (albeit, we'll not do the move 'x' squares thing on the battlemat).

D&D 4E Is Pathfinder Combat As Slow as 4e?

Based on the comments I've gotten and my own experiences (and my desire for quicker combats) I think I'll try this: 1) Start using PF 2) Have minis and/or pogs and a battlemat, but only use them for relative positioning (I'll ditch the movement rules and other bookkeeping). So you won't keep...

D&D 4E Is Pathfinder Combat As Slow as 4e?

It wasn't that the nature of the battle was boring, it's just that if you like the roleplaying as much or better than combat (striving for 50% roleplaying and 50% combat) then a 40+ minute battle might be too much. I play with a younger crowd (I GM a group of 12-17 year olds) and they are used...

D&D 4E Is Pathfinder Combat As Slow as 4e?

This is an interesting idea. If you ditch the battlemat (maybe keeping the minis for relative positioning, but ignoring the movement rules, etc.) will that speed up combat? That might be something I'd pursue.

D&D 4E Is Pathfinder Combat As Slow as 4e?

I've been interested in trying out Pathfinder. I'm experienced with fast combat games like 0e and 1e D&D, Savage Worlds, etc. This post gave me pause though: Destination Unknown: I broke up with 4e this morning. I tried 4e once at a D&D gameday. Combat took 40 minutes for one encounter and...
