    [4e] Nevermore Campaign Setting Discussion/FAQ

Glad you like them... I know I've had fun with the concept. Nothing like having a bad guy wave her hand and have the hillside the heroes were using to ambush her turn into rubble beneath their feet. ;)

    [4e] Nevermore Campaign Setting Discussion/FAQ

If you spot any reviews, let me know. I'm a feedback junkie and love to find out what people liked/disliked about a certain product. It helps me to know what I'm doing well and what I can improve on. ;) As for what sets this campaign setting apart from others... I think the top three things...

    [4e] Nevermore Campaign Setting Discussion/FAQ

Depends on where in the campaign setting you are. If you are in the Eye (where the world is stabler), then encounters might have a normal feel to them because dreaming surges are less effective and the landscape is stable. However, if you're in the Wyrd, then the landscapes you might be fighting...

    [4e] Nevermore Campaign Setting Discussion/FAQ

Let me know if my answers to darjr cover your questions or if you need some more info. As an added tidbit, here's something else you can do with dreaming surges: You may call upon the assistance of Nevermore when in need, especially in desperate and dire situations. The following are three...

    [4e] Nevermore Campaign Setting Discussion/FAQ

I'm glad you like the book thus far. And your description of its elements is dead on... I like my fantasy fantastic, too. ;) That's okay, most of the rules are just add-ons, which are easily subtracted without much effect on the overall system. You might also want to drop the hit point kickers...

    [4e] Nevermore Campaign Setting Discussion/FAQ

Actually, it didn't involve a change to the core system, but rather an additional mechanic, which I called dream surges. Dream surges as you might guess from the name represent innate ability (essentially a character's imagination) to bend the dreamlands to his will and can be use to do anything...

    [4e] Nevermore Campaign Setting Discussion/FAQ

Hello All, I'm the author of the newly released Nevermore campaign setting from Expeditious Retreat Press. Some of you might recognize Nevermore as one of the campaign settings that won a spot in Green Ronin's Worlds of Adventure contest for the True20 system. I really enjoyed working with the...

Any Monkey Island Fans on this Board?

Hello Fellow EnWorlders, I just got the new Monkey Island game from Telltale Games. Quite funny. ;) If you are unfamiliar with the Monkey Island series... it's a very funny puzzle-adventure game about an inept (but strangely effective) pirate. ;) Anyway, they are asking folks to "design" a...

Why You Haven't Seen Me Around: Or How I've Spent the Last Year.

Dear ENWorlders, It's been a while since last you heard from me and the primary reason is because I took the year off from freelance writing and forum posting to focus on my first novel: Avery Mann's Book of Misadventures: Volume I. This book was inspired by the work I did for the World of...

    What is the probability of...

Good point... how about what's the odds of being stuck by lightning (1/400,000) on six consecutive Friday the 13ths (6 days within an approximately 880 day span). What about just being in a fire (1/300) on six consecutive Friday the 13ths (6 days within an approximately 880 day span).

    What is the probability of...

a single person being an eyewitness to freakish accidents on six consecutive Friday the Thirteenths. I am assuming it is low, but I just wanted to find out the actual odds of this happening.

What's the effective bonus of a double d20 roll take the highest?

Thanks everyone for your answers... they were quite enlightening as I weigh whether to go with double rolls or single rolls with bonuses. I think that getting rid of bad rolls is definately a selling point for the double roll. What about straigth rerolls (i.e. I don't like this roll I'll take...

What's the effective bonus of a double d20 roll take the highest?

What's the effective bonus to an attack roll or skill check (d20) where you roll two dice and take the highest? In short, I'm looking for how much the reroll affects the end result on average as expressed as a +<insert number>. I'm trying to reduce rolls and just want to know what bonus is...

Not too late yet ;) Thanks for the suggestions... I'll add them to the list of possible backdrops. Thanks... I'm looking forward to writing it ;) Btw... I'll be on vacation next week so it'll probably be a couple weeks before any updates. However, when I get back I'll try to get a short...

    D&D 4E 4e Fantasy Backdrops Discussion

Interesting idea... I'll think about it and see what I can come up with ;) I see... so make it modular in design based on the effects you want as a DM and then say here are the effects a "monkey bridge" has and these are the effects a crawl bridge has. That could work really well. I'll have to...

    D&D 4E 4e Fantasy Backdrops Discussion

I'm considering this... I'll have to think about how best to reskin things. I want the rules to be robust enough to mimic most types of rope bridges, but without overwhelming the DM and player with a complexity of options.
